After talking to Briar, Christian and his three brothers returned to the family mansion. As Christian entered with the others, he heard Jason's voice echoing inside.
"Nope." Christian turned around to leave when Jacob and Roger grabbed a hold of him. "Hey."
"Sorry bro, but no chickening out this time." Christian wiggled in their grasp as they dragged him to the dining room where Christian's family and Jason were conversing with one another.
"We've returned." John gained everyone's attention.
"Welcome home, my sons." Calvin greeted them. "Why are you holding your brother and have him facing the opposite direction?"
Roger rolled his eyes. "The goofball wanted to make a run for it the moment he heard Jason."
"Don't I feel loved?" Jason grumbled sarcastically.
Christian kicked his legs back forth in an attempt to escape. "C'mon guys."
"Don't you want to see your beloved mate?" Jacob taunted him.
"Yeah. Especially since you told Briar that Jason is your soulmate." Roger added.
"You guys saw Briar again?" Jessie asked them.
"At the supernatural police station." John replied.
"What on earth were you doing at the supernatural police station?" Calvin quizzed his sons.
John frowned. "The blood drainer was at Sherman's Oak."
"What? Why didn't you contact us about this?"
"There was no cell phone service in the mountains, and then we went to speak to Mr. Thornefield, so it slipped our minds to call you."
"What did the blood drainer look like?" Sarah asked John.
"It's Graham Clifton."
"Young Clifton? The one who inherited Clifton enterprises."
"The very same."
"That socialite recluse?" Ashley asked incredulously.
Calvin let out a growl. "This is unacceptable!" He slammed his hand on the table. "How dare he go after my flesh and blood!"
"Calm down dad." Jacob told him.
"This is me being calm!" Calvin shouted. "Just you wait till I get my hands on him!"
"Hold your horses, or you'll ruin the plan."
"What plan?"
"The plan to capture him without anything going wrong."
"That's why you spoke to Bryan's dad." Jessie spoke.
"We didn't go over there for the heck of it." Roger told them.
"What is the plan?" Tracy asked her sons.
"I agreed to meet young Clifton on Monday." John started explaining.
"You're putting your life on the line?"
"Chill mom." Jacob spoke. "The blood drainer is expecting John. But Christian's bodyguard id going to disguise himself as our stoic brother and capture him with the help of Bryan's dad."
"And the shadow magic?" Calvin inquired.
"He's got some kind of solar orb to keep his shadow at bay."
Everyone exhaled in relief. "So that's that then." Ashley spoke up. "Monday it'll all be over."
"Then court proceedings." John added in.
"Court proceedings?"
"In addition to the bite mark. Our brother was asked to testify against young Clifton."
Jason stood quickly. "Testify?"
"It's going to be alright." Sarah tried assuring him.
"Alright? This simpleton cracks under pressure too easily."
"Now I feel so loved." Christian mumbled sarcastically.
"Don't you remember that time when we were playing family feud for game night that time?" Jason asked his ex.
"That's different."
"Different how?"
"For starters, there won't be a timer counting down."
"Christian."
"Hey. I'm not happy about it either. But Mr. Thornfield said that if I can speak for those who didn't make it. Then I will do my best to help."
"We're one hundred percent behind you bro." Ashley exclaimed. "And we'll even play Law and Order to help you practice being on the stand."
"Law and Order?" Jessie whispered to her eldest sister.
Jason gawked at everyone. "You guys can't be serious."
Calvin pinched the bridge of his nose. "We'll figure it all out after he is captured."
"Great." Christian muttered. "Can you guys put me down now?"
"You promise you won't run away?" Jacob asked him.
"You have my word."
They turned around to make Christian face his family and ex before releasing their hold on him. "Now." everyone stared at Ashley. "Tell us more about proclaiming Jason as your mate in front of Sean's Ex boyfriend."
Christian looked away. "I don't know what you guys are talking about."
"I already have a mate." They heard Christian's voice without him speaking. "It's the pale guy that was with us." Christian looked up dreadfully at the source of his voice to find John with his phone out playing back the conversation he had with Briar.
Christian screamed as his face turned as red as a tomato. "When did you?! How did you?! Give me that!" he tried snatching the phone from his eldest brother but to no avail.
He let out a second scream when Jason grabbed him from behind. "Excuse us a moment." Jason told everyone before dragging Christian out of the room with the others getting a kick out of John's spying ability.
When they rounded the corner, Jason guided a protesting Christian to one of the guest rooms. He shoved him inside and shut and locked the door behind him.
"What's the big idea?" Christian tried to get to the door, but Jason blocked him.
Jason got a firm grip on him and got into his face. "No more games."
"What?"
"You heard me. No more screwing around. I have feelings and am tired of you toying with them."
"I am not toying with your emotions."
"Then give me a straight answer! One second, you want me. Then you don't." Christian paused with the outburst. "It's very simple." Jason said. "You either want me back, or you don't." his grip tightened on him. "What's your choice?" Christian opened his mouth to speak but struggled to say what he wanted to say. "I see." Jason's grip began to loosen when Christian grabbed on to him tightly.
"I'm sorry." he whispered out.
Jason frowned. "I guess that's my answer."
"What? No, I was just apologizing for."
Jason got out of his hold and stomped to the door. "Don't worry. I won't bother you ever again." he opened the door and left.
Feeling panic, Christian rushed after him. "That's not what I meant! Jason!" Jason was out the door. And Christian could feel his heart breaking into tiny little pieces.
