Bryan arrived an hour later to find Christian fast asleep with Jason sitting closest to him as the others converse with one another. Jessie spotted him, and made her way over and gave Bryan a kiss. "How was work?"

"Not too bad." He handed her a couple of homemade cards. "The kids made these for Christian when they learned he was taken."

"How sweet." Jessie said as she took them to take a look. "We miss you, Uncle Christian. Come back, Uncle Christian." There was a card with a drawing of Christian being dragged in a ginormous bag with a robber pulling him along. "The crayon colors are very vivid." She commented.

Bryan chuckled. "They have a vivid imagination." Snoring caught their attention. "Good to know the experience didn't alter him."

"He's tougher than people think."

"More like air goes through his brain." Roger chimed in. Sarah slapped his arm. "What?"

Knocking interrupted them. "Hey everybody." Sean was at the doorway alongside Briar.

"Hi Sean." Ashley wiggled her fingers and grinned wide.

"Don't get any ideas, you barracuda." Briar spoke. "He's mine. And I don't plan on letting him go any time soon."

Everyone smiled with the news. "You guys made up." Jacob said.

"About damn time." Roger grunted when Ashley elbowed him.

Sean smiled in amusement. "We heard what happened and wanted to see how he's doing and thank him for helping us get back together."

Briar noticed Jason holding Christian's hand. "Damn it."

"What's wrong?" Sean asked his mate.

"You two got back together too?" Briar questioned Jason.

"Got a problem with that?" Jason inquired him.

"You bet I do." Briar said with a huff. "Now we gotta go on a double date."

Christian's brothers began snickering. "Mind elaborating on that?" Jason asked them.

"Our brother asked to have you four go on a double date if both he and Briar got back together with their mates." John explained.

"Do we have to?" Briar complained when Sean gave him a look.

"And you wonder why we don't have any couple friends."

"But Sean."

"No buts. You gave him your word, and I'll see to it that you honor that."

Briar continued pouting. "Fine, but I don't like it one bit."

Everyone snorted at him as Christian stayed fast asleep. Shaking his head, Sean gave Jason his number. "Let us know when and where to meet. We might come back tomorrow when he's not as tired out."

"Sound good." Jason said as he tucked the paper into his pocket.

"Hey." Jason stared at Sean. "Take good care of him. You're lucky to have him."

"More like he's lucky to have me."

"Damn." Briar cursed. "You're like an alpha trapped in a zombie's body." Sean nudged him. "What?"

"We'll be looking forward to hanging out with you two." Sean spoke politely.

"Sure, we are." Briar muttered under his breath before being escorted out by Sean.

"See you guys later." they were gone, and everyone slumped in relief.

"Thank god." Roger gagged as everyone bristled and glared at him. "Sorry. Was too relieved to care about the 'G' word."

"All of us are." Sarah spoke for everyone in the room.

They heard a hissing sound and watched as Christian woke up and placed his hand over his left shoulder. "Let me see it." Jason gently commanded when he rushed over to check it. He cursed before looking at Christian's family. "Get the doctor and one who is supposed to put the protective spell on Christian. And hurry."

"What's wrong?" Jessie asked concerned before sucking in some air when she sees Christian's bite mark glowing a deep crimson. Everyone else noticed.

"That's why he let you go." Jacob breathed out. "He wants to control you to do his dirty work."

"Over my dead body." Jason swore.

"We'll get everyone needed." Sarah and John rushed out of the room.

"Christian. Look at me. Christian." Christian winced but stared at Jason. "We need you to be strong right now. The bastard's trying to control you. Since you aren't a full-blooded vampire, he could use bite marks as well as hypnosis to do what he wants with you."

"He's trying to make me his evil minion?"

"No time for jokes. Now, we are going to have to hold you down until the doctors strap you in and the protective spell is put into effect."

"Hold me down?" Christian yelped when Jacob pinned his torso and Roger held his legs down. "Hey!" Christian hissed in pain when he felt his bite marks burning. "It hurts. Can't you guys get me some hydrocortisone while you're at it? Maybe some aloe vera? Guys?"

A few doctors and nurses rushed in with restraints. "One more thing." Christian looked at Jason as he frowned sadly. "Until we are sure you're not under his control, you're going to have to be muzzled as well."

"Muzzled?!"

"Sorry Christian. But it's to keep you as well as the rest of us safe."

"You can't be serious. And hey!" as they were strapping him down, a leather muzzle was placed over his face and his complaints became muffled. Christian's family stared sadly at the scene as guilt began to consume them.
