It's been days since I've laid my eyes on her, Genevieve always assured me that we never crossed paths. The constant escaping from my half-eaten plate because I could hear her footsteps was becoming a little tiring, but that pleased me so much more than having to look her in the face. Every waking moment felt like a cat and mouse chase, yet we were equally as scared to encounter each other. The mixture of grief and anger swiveled in my chest every time I breathed. My plan was slowly turning into fruition, and it was turning quickly. Every night at 3:05 on the dot, was my time to test the waters, test my escape. I always had exactly five minutes and thirty seconds between the security exchange at the front door. So far I managed to make it to the power room, sitting behind the entrance.

Tonight is the night, I just need everything to go to plan. God, please let it work.

I forgave Genevieve, I know her heart was in the right place. Her endless apologies and guilty tears made me somewhat feel bad for her, as crazy as that sounds. I just need to not see her today and everything will work out how I need it to.

"Je m'en fous qu'il ne soit pas prêt, j'ai besoin de l'envoi ici demain matin." Carmilla's voice vibrates around me. Fuck. Her voice is calm yet so stern it could bring a room of men to their knees. I spin my head around to the direction of her voice, our eyes both equally as surprised at each other's presence. "Jane, I- uh I didn't know you were here" she muttered quietly. She dropped her hand down to her hip with her phone in her hand, her under-eyes gray. She looks like she's been through it recently, her eyes speaking for her. I chuckle at myself internally, at least she looks affected by our break up?.

{Translation: I dont give a fuck that it's not ready, I need the shipment by the morning}

Her eyes are sunken in, cheeks flushed in a pale crescent, contrasting her usual warm tone. The tension in the room suffocates me, her scent seeping through my skin. Her unbuttoned shirt, held together by the loose tie around her neck makes my heart jolt in an unbalanced beat. Seeing her like this made a heart string of mine twist in a way I've never felt before, but she deserves it. She did this, Jane. Don't feel bad for her, I attempt to convince myself. Her body shifts forward, pulling me out of my conflicted gaze.

I swiftly got up off the kitchen stool, retreating away from Carmilla. "I need the restroom" I excuse in a brisk manner.

"Jane" she speaks up in a low murmur, her command masked in a plea. I keep walking, not wishing to give into her fake admission. "I just want to talk, just let me explain" she voices almost desperately, causing me to stop in my tracks towards the kitchen door.

My back faces her as my eyes glare at the cream tile beneath me. "You don't get the luxury to explain yourself" I express coldly before stepping out of the room. I hold my breath as my legs carry me to the hallway, gripping onto my chest. I halt my run when I am in the clear, knowing she didn't follow me out. My upper body leans down as my hands rest on my thighs as I pant heavily, closing my eyes to catch my breath. A warmth makes me open my eyes, a pair of leather shoes greeting my eyes as I stare down at the floor.

"You seem to forget whose house you're in" her raspy voice makes me lift my head up slowly. Her green eyes seethe down at me, the look of death flooding through her pupils. My body jumps up in a hurry, yearning to create as much space between us as possible.

"I don't want to talk to you" I state in a slight tremor as I analyze her movements.

Her all too familiar stupid grin creeps onto her face, "So don't" she states as she gets closer. She's trying to do something and I can't quite figure it out. "I just want to say, I'm sorry." She confesses. "I know what I said – I mean, did – what I did was unforgivable, but we can't keep going like this forever" her body is only centimeters away from me, her eyes scanning my every breath. "You're gonna have to forgive me one day" she continues, her voice trickling into a coarse whisper. "Because I miss you"
