I shake his hand. "You better get home before mom asks where you've been," I tease. Upon hearing my words he lets go of my hand, my mockery proving too difficult to hide at this hour of the morning. "The money will be delivered by 7 tonight" I reassured as I nodded my head slightly. A pleased nod is the last thing I see before he leaves the room and moments after, a click of the front door, meaning he is gone. "Трус" I mumble to myself.

(translation: coward)

Moments later, a friendly knock is heard on my door as I sit back down at my desk, ready to transfer the money through to him. I take a breath and stand up in a huff before I open the door. A smile paints my face as I see the man standing before me. "Marshal, welcome" I greet as I step out, shutting the door behind me. I hint with my eyes for Cole to follow behind as he nods back at me discreetly. "Can we take a walk? I have some things to discuss with you "I inquired gently as I tried to ease his discomfort. "Who knows you're here?" I grill.

"Just my wife. Can we make this quick? My daughter didn't come home last night, and I need to find her. They said this has something to do with her?" He answers, panic and worry in his tone. I tilt my head to face him as we pause for a moment, our tread aimed towards the staircase leading up to the second floor.

"Trust me, this is worth your time" I confirm with an awaiting grin as we resume our walk, our steps in unison as we make it up the stairs. I lead the grieving father down the halls, light beaming through the door gaps, the anticipation visible in his posture before I open the door gently.

Jane P.O.V.

My eyes open with a familiar hand on my arms, warm tears dropping on my neck. "Baby, it's okay, it's me," he soothed in a whispered cry. Papa? This must be a dream, or maybe I've finally lost it and hallucinations are occurring.

"This isn't real" I whisper to myself as I close my eyes again. I don't want to leave this wonderful dream, but I know I must. This isn't real. A harsh voice makes my heart skip, awaking me in a split second.

"Get up, Jane. Your dad is here" she states, annoyance in her voice. 'So, this is real?' I think in disbelief, opening my eyes once again.

I look over to my dad. His eyes are red, filled with worry before he cups my cheeks. "Papa" I sob out, and he joins me. "I'm scared". I'm not alone anymore.

"I know, baby. It's okay, I'm here." he soothes, wiping my tears away. "I'll get you home, okay? It'll be okay, I promise" he attempts to comfort me as he forces a smile, hoping to reassure me. His scent brings me back home, making my lungs calm the storm inside my chest. I feel safe again.

A swift moment passes as I lay on his lap. His warm hands playing with my hair, there's no need to be brave when he's here. He safely coddles me when I'm in his arms. Everything in this room began to fade back into my childhood bedroom, my ragged blanket laying in between my arms as I rested on him, my mind lost in childhood memories. It was only me and him, always, since the beginning. I could hear his lullabies send me to paradise as he circled the strands of my hair, coaxing me to sleep as my smile faded along with my slumber.

A sudden voice disrupts my peace. "It's time to go." Carmilla orders, and my grip tightens on his shirt instinctively. I don't want him to leave.

"No please, five more minutes" I plead in between sniffles. To my dismay, she doesn't retaliate. She doesn't rebuke my request. My sigh of relief fills the room as I treasure this moment, hoping it'll never change.

"I'll be back, baby, I promise!" he wails as Cole drags him out of the room by his arms, his will to leave just as difficult as mine. My cries echo through the walls as I kneel on the ground, at a loss of hope. He's gone. I'll never get to see him again. Carmilla follows behind, shutting the door on me, leaving me alone in the room once again.

"PAPA! COME BACK!" I ran for the door, not ready to give up just yet. "LET ME OUT!" I yell, my fists banging on the door in desperation. "PAPA!" I scream out once again. My body falls to the ground before my body curls up, each cry making me feel at a loss of air. My heart strings tearing at every breath as I continue to sob, my hand resting on my chest to keep myself conscious of my surroundings.

The tears of sadness slowly start to fade away as my sobs tender in sound before a sudden blast of anger hits my bloodstream. 'She can't do this to me' I remark as I clench my jaw, getting up. I look over at the vase positioned on the windowsill, and I march over. Grabbing it in my arms, I fling it across the room. The vase shatters and the glass spreads all over the burnt-brown, wood floors. Stray petals fall ever so gently onto the ground. And fury overtakes me. I snatch whatever I see in sight. I throw it around. I throw everything. "GET ME OUT OF HERE" I screech out as a book hits the window. The window turned into what looks like a spiderweb as the cracks form. I watch the glass shatter as it echoes across the enclosed room, blasts of fresh air filling the room like wildfire.

My feet treads over the now blades of glass and I take a peek out of the window.

Carmilla P.O.V.

"Please don't hurt her, take me instead" he begs. An honorable suggestion, but he's not who I want.

"She doesn't give up, does she?" I inquired. "I see where she gets it from" I comment, my eyes traveling down to the kneeling man. "I have a proposition for you. Your boss-" I pause as he listens, "-Mr. brown, I believe?" I asked cluelessly. "I need you to tell me everything you know about him. Don't leave out any details'' I explain. "Think of yourself as a little spy, the eyes to what I need. My messenger per se." I propose, eyeing the pathetic view below me.

"And you'll let her go?" he asks, hope rushing through his veins. I let out a little laugh at the question.

"Marshal, you know I can't do that. But I can promise you I won't kill her" I barter, although a rather fair compromise considering my track record, and Marshal knows that. A shaky cry leaves his mouth as his reality sets in.

"Okay, whatever you say," he surrenders, although still hoping I'd change my mind on letting her free.

"She is safe here, go home. Get some rest and then get to work. We'll talk at the end of the week." I ordered.

An urgent knock suddenly pierces through the door. "Ma'am?" I open the door to Cole's wide eyes. "You need to come now, it's Jane," he whispers, indicating to the room upstairs. What has she been up to again?

"Cole, will you escort the dear Marshal out?" I ask calmly.

"Of course," Cole smiles as he motions for Marshal to leave. And he obeys.

I marched down the hall like my life depended on it. With each step I take, the quieter the house seems. What the fuck? Grabbing my gun, I approach the door carefully. I don't know what's behind those doors. I place my hand on the key, turning it quietly. Why am I nervous? I listen in, no sound. You could hear a pin drop in that room. I press down on the handle slowly. Lifting my gun up, I swing the door open.
