Sorry this part is so short, the next one will be longer!!!! :-)
Chapter 4
Libby
I'm not sure how long i lay there staring at my ceiling, seconds? Minutes? Hours? It was peaceful and the thoughts in my head were finally calming. But of course every great thing must come to an end. My phone ringing shattered the silence. It was Karlie. I answered the phone with my best attempt at a cheerful voice.
'Hey Karlie what's up?
'Hey Libby, are you OK after today?' she said with genuine worry in her voice.
'Yeah fine, really,' i said back.
She knew i was lying but dropped the topic knowing if i wanted to talk about it, i would. 'Anyway, was there another reason you called?' i asked, although i knew there was.
'Yes, could you do me a favour, pretty please?' she laughed
'That depends on what it is,' i said through my expanding smile.
'Well... i got asked on a date by a guy today and i was wondering, well hoping you would do my hair and make-up if you didn't mind?'
'Whooaaahh, back up, what guy?' i said intrigued.
He's called Oscar.'
'No not just the name, i want all the details!' i was interested in her new man but i also didn't want to be left alone so i tried to make the conversation last as long as i could.
'Okay, well he's called Oscar Dennis, he's sixteen, so in the year above and he's very clever but not in a nerdy way. He had brown hair which is quite long. Green eyes, tall, tanned and last but not least, very attractive!' Karlie giggled her way through the description which left me smiling to myself afterwards.
'Sounds like you know him better than his own parents!'
She laughed and said, 'So... please?'
'Of course i will, when and what time?'
'Tomorrow at six?'
'Sure,' i said. I was actually really looking forward to spending some quality time with Karlie alone, it had been ages.
'Thanks Lib, you're the best! Bye!'
'Bye, see you tomorrow.'
I ended the call and sat back down on my bed, i battled to keep my eyes open. Eventually i gave in and before i knew it i was fast asleep dreaming of many things much happier than my day.
School was surprisingly okay this morning. I had art, which i loved and P.E., with Danielle. We spent most of our time talking about her recent date with Rob, her boyfriend. It was hard for me to imagine those two together alone, out of school.
After P.E. we had our lunch break. As usual we met up with Natalie and Karlie. Everybody was strangely quiet today, like they'd all had a night's sleep like me, if you could call it sleep that is.
I wasn't too involved in the conversation, i was too absorbed watching George and Maddy all over each other. Even their names sounded good together didn't they, i realised. I didn't like them together one bit, but at the same time i couldn't keep my eyes off them.
Did they really have to do that in front of everyone? Or was that the point? Maybe he wanted me to see, to feel jealous, i think crushed would be a better word.
He glanced over in my direction and our eye contact briefly interlocked. He looked apologetic, but my eyes full of venom ready to bite. Knowing my mood from my expression, he looked away.
