Chapter 11

Please don't hate me for this!

Libby

I sat on the beach talking in the sun. My hair flapped around my face and in my eyes. After becoming uncomfortably hot, I walked down to the sea hopping up and down as the sand burned the soles of my feet. The cool water lapped over my ankles and soothed my stinging feet. I jumped over the waves like I used to as a child and ended up laughing at myself for being so immature.

I span around on my heels, making patterns in the sand

I walked further down the beach collecting pebbles and throwing them into the water. I tried skimming them several times but that's just something I've never been able to do.

This part of the beach was normally deserted, but I guessed the warm weather had bought people out. I saw a couple in the distance, in each others arms and kissing. I smiled, knowing I had that too.

I carried on walking, not wanting to go home just yet.

I sat down against one of the breakers and absentmindedly studied the couple.

The girl was tall, blonde, skinny and looked around my age maybe a little older.

I soon noticed that the blonde girl in, the boy's arms was Maddy! She moved on quick, I thought to myself. I wondered if I knew the boy. Curious and nosey, I wandered a little closer and squinted up to the pier. At first I thought the sun had got to my eyes, I stood in the shade, letting them adjust and then took another look.

No... its not. I wouldn't let myself believe what my eyes were showing me.

The boy with Maddy was... George. There was no doubt about it. That was one hundred percent, definitely my George. My stomach dropped causing me to stagger backwards as the pain began to form. I clutched my stomach dropping to the floor, hoping to numb it.

There was no way he was going to get away with this one. I took out my phone and took a snapshot of them together.

I was confused. I watched them for a bit longer and they continued to kiss. I sighed and walked back home. I knew it was too good to be true.

I didn't cry this time, I couldn't cry. I clenched my fists and rocked on my bed in a tight ball. I scanned the picture of them on my phone hoping it was a dream. There was no hope.

I punched a number into my phone and waited for her to pick up.

"Karlie?" I asked, my voice slightly croaky.

"Hey Libby, what's up hunny?"

"George is back with Maddy." I Sighed again.

"Since when?" I heard her gasp.

"I saw them today on the beach."

"I'm so sorry Libby. I really thought you two were going to be something."

"You and I both." I said.

"Your worth more than him Libby, remember that."

"I will, thanks Karlie. I've got to go."

"Are you sure, I dint feel like I've helped much?"

"Yeah I have to go."

"OK see you tomorrow at school!"

"Yeah see you." I put the phone down. No boy was going to take advantage of me...
