Chapter 10

The weekend had gone too fast as always and before we knew it we were back at school. The alarm clock rang through my ears at the crack of dawn. That had to be one of the most dreaded sounds. Especially to a teenager.

With my eyes still half closed, I crawled unwillingly to the bathroom and turned on the shower. When the water was hot I stepped in, banging my elbow on my funny bone. I hopped in a circle several times cursing in pain.

When the warm water had finally managed to wake me up, I slipped into my shorts and tank top, slung my bag over my shoulder and headed to school. It was already scorching outside. Well for England that is.. and as I walked I noticed people had already started mowing their lawns. I mean seriously who does that at eight thirty in the morning? I frowned and then smiled noticing I was talking to myself. Since I was late this morning I figured George had already gone. I walked alone but it was surprisingly enjoyable just to be able to think alone.

I showed myself into the science lab and sat in my usual seat by the window. Shortly after, George came and sat by me like he had every lesson since his first day. Maddy dramatically flung open the door and strutted to her seat. George rolled his eyes and went back to his work.

At break and lunch George ended up being with Karlie, Natalie, Chris, Danilelle, Rob and myself which was nice. I could tell Karlie wished Oscar went to school here though i knew she would never admit that out loud. George held my hand to lesson and offered to carry my folders. I never wanted this to change. It was perfect.

After English we all left to go home.

"Hey Libby!" George shouted, over the noise in the corridor. I pointed to the door and went outside to wait for him.

"Hey, do you fancy coming back to mine for a bit?" George asked.

"George, I'm not sure..." I trailed off.

"Please." he batted his eyelashes girlishly and I laughed, elbowing him playfully.

"Fine! but don't be so embarrassing."

He grabbed my waist and we walked back to his house.

I was scared to meet his family. I had no idea what they would be like. I hoped they would like me.

George switched from my waist to my hand and opened the door with his other. He towed me along behind him until we found his step-mum who was busy in the kitchen preparing some food.

"Hey mum, this is Libby." George's hand was held in my direction and she immediately stopped what she was doing to come over and meet me.

"It's so nice to finally meet you Libby, I'm Maria." she said sweetly taking me into an embrace.

"Its lovely to meet you too."

She smiled, "Oh and George, Mia isn't here, she'll be back later."

George nodded.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

George.

I showed Libby into my room and pulled her down to sit next to me. I tucked a loose strand of hair that fell over her face behind her ear and kissed her neck.

We both jumped when someone knocked on my door.

"Come in!"i shouted.

The door swung open and my little sister Mia stood in the doorway smiling upwards.

Mia's face immediately lit up when she saw Libby sat next to me.

"George's fwend?" she questioned, cocking her head slightly.

"Yeah. This is Libby." I answered, pointing to Libby. Mia giggled and jumped up and down in excitement.

"Hello munchkin." Libby said kneeling down and opening her arms.

Mia ran straight into them and hugged Libby tightly.

"You look lovely today Miss Mia." she said, flicking one of Mia's golden curls.

"Thank you!" Mia squealed in delight. She ran out of the room and back to mum where she told her all about her new friend.

"Wow. She really likes you," I said.

"I like her too."

"No I mean she really likes you. She never talks to anyone apart from family and even that's a struggle sometimes."

Libby beamed.

I kicked shut the door and went back to where Libby was stood. I expected her to laugh at the awkward silence, but she did something I really wasn't expecting. She threw her arms over my shoulders and hugged me tightly whispering into my ear, "Please don't ever let me lose you."

I hugged her tightly, moving my hands up her back soothingly.

"You won't." I replied.

I went over to my desk to pick up a rose I had hid for her underneath it. I bent over to pick it up and hit my forehead on the way back up. I cursed covering it with my hand to soothe the stinging.

"Oh my gosh!" Libby shouted. She sat me on the bed and disappeared out of the room, only to return a few minutes later with a damp towel in her hand. She cleaned up my head, apologising profusely every time I flinched as it stung.

"How's it look?" I asked.

"Much better." she said as she kissed my head.

I finally gave her the rose which she thought was sweet. I cut of some of the stem and pushed it into the bun on her head.

I sighed in contentment. "Beautiful."

When it started to get dark, I walked her home wishing she didn't have to go. I kissed her lips running my hands up her arms and round her neck. She kissed me back and our lips melted together.

I pushed her her against her front door and pressed my body against hers. She pulled away smiling, not wanting it to go any further.

I made sure she got into the house and then walked home, thanking God for that mystery girl.
