Chapter Thirty: Alice in Spade's Wonderland

"Ace would prefer the skies to stay red and the loop go on... because Alice will inevitably die. With the loop, you get to love Alice again, and again... and again."

Erin couldn't believe it. Ace was the reason Wonderland cannot have blue skies; so Alice will eventually come back.

The storm surrounding Erin and Spade was a suppression spell. Ace threw his magic to break the wall, but nothing could get in.

"Spade! Why are you here?! Where is my brother?!" Lady Cat arrived and commanded all her plants to attack Spade, just for snakes to wrap around her wrist. "AHH!"

"My Lady!" Knight and Rabbit comes to her aid, because the snake tattoos are being burned to her skin.

"Give me back my brother!" She yells, but her plants are not cooperating. Spade's suppression is even burning her wrists the more she forces it.

"Spade, don't... don't hurt them..." Erin tells him, still in conflict with himself. He starts to cry, "I want... to understand... I still don't..."

Ace yells out, "In every lifetime, Alice... I tried, we all tried... but Alice will always die."

"But you did have the choice to make the skies blue... didn't you Ace?" Erin asks, and Spade nods. The Prince of Darkness holds out his hand for Erin to take, Ace's cards never getting through the wall around them.

"Don't even think about it, Aster!" Knight yells at him when Ace debates using Dark Magic to get through. Still, Spade doesn't suppress his powers; just prevented it from reaching Erin.

"Yes, I did have the choice to make the skies blue..." Ace shakes his head, "But I don't want to live in a world where I'm not with you. Please, Erin... don't..."

Erin's heart struggles to break, because he doesn't know if Ace loves him, or the idea of Alice. Aren't they all different? Are reincarnations the same person, when they have different experiences?

"See unlike you, Ace," Spade offers his hand to Erin, "I want peace for Wonderland. I want the loop to end. And you know, for a fact, that the only way it will end, is for Erin to marry me."

"Erin, no..."

I love you, Ace... Erin's eyes are full of tears, so he closes his eyes. But I have to make things right.

Erin took Spade's hand, accepting his proposal, before they disappear in a cloud of smoke. The tattoos on Lady Cat's wrists disappeared and she passes out in Rabbit's arms. Marco watched from the entrance of the Garden, hands trembling from the fact that he's not allowed to do anything.

Erin releases a deep breath as if he was holding it while traveling different worlds, and this time it was in a palace of black stone and flames that doesn't seem to feel hot. He fell to the ground, crying at the fact that he betrayed Ace to save Wonderland.

Spade's lion came to life and rubbed against Erin to calm him down, while Spade sat on his throne of thorns. "I know how much you love my friend, Erin. If things weren't this way, I would've watched you marry him happily. But no... to fix the red skies, you must marry the champion of that battle."

"Alice?" A familiar voice calls out, one uncertain if it is really Alice.

Erin looks up to see—"Cheshire! You're alive!"

He ran towards the small cat, bewildered at the male appearance of Queen Alice. He was informed that Spade is here with her, but why a him?

"What's going on? You're... a man?" Cheshire questions, scanning him from head to toe. "Are you really...?"

"Yes, kitty, that is Alice... Wonderland has tried yet again to change the course of events by changing the gender after the previous reincarnations failed."
