**Sophia**

I had Pepper bring me dinner to my room even though I was invited to the dining hall for dinner from King Steve himself, but I refused to go. Saying I didn't feel up to it and would take dinner in my room.

I was sitting at my table eating dinner and reading my book, but I looked up and thought of something. I quickly got up, walked over to the secret door and switched the lock on the door. I would not be going to see Steve tonight and he would not be coming here.

We never said if I was going to his room anyway, but I figured he would want me to. I went back to my table and continued to eat. I then heard voices out in the sitting room and sighed knowing the voice.

"She isn't wanting visitors." Yelena said.

"I don't care, I'm her brother." Bucky's voice boomed.

"I understand Lord Barnes, but she was insistent." Yelena countered.

I groaned and got up from where I was sitting, I walked to the door and opened it up, "It's okay Yelena." I said sweetly and she bowed slightly and walked back to where she was sitting. Bucky followed and shut my door.

"How long were you in talking to Steve today?" Bucky asked and I shrugged.

"I don't know, we talked, he went over a couple of things with me, then I left." I said.

"I haven't seen you all day..." Bucky said.

"I was hiding in the library."

"I checked the library and didn't see you." Bucky said.

"I left once or twice to get air. I also sat on the balcony in the library, did you check there?" I asked and Bucky just sighed but shook his head. "And what are you possibly insinuating about me dear brother?" I asked.

"I'm not insinuating anything." Bucky said and I just looked at him.

"Could have fooled me." I quipped.

"I just wanted to check on you after everything and I was going to talk to you at dinner but you didn't show up." Bucky said.

"I wasn't feeling like it, I'm sorry. I just would like to be alone sometimes. If you are referring to if I'm okay from John Walker, I'm perfectly fine. He never would have made me happy if he is happy with her. I just want him out of my life." I said and Bucky half nodded.

There was silence as I just looked at the floor.

"Well, I did have a little bit of business to discuss with you as well." Bucky said and I just sighed.

"Which would be?" I asked.

"Well since you are in court now and now have more options for eligible men, we should look to making a good match for you." Bucky said.

I groaned and got up from my chair, "Can I just have some time Bucky, please? I mean the guy I was supposed to marry soon has gotten someone else pregnant and married her in the middle of the night. I don't really want to hurry into something else." I defended.

"I just don't think waiting long is going to be beneficial to you." Bucky said.

"And what says I want to be married? A wife? A mother? What if I just want to be myself." I said. Bucky turned all shades of red and I couldn't read any other expression on his face.

"What do you mean you don't want it?!" Bucky raised his voice.

"I never said I didn't want it. I'm just saying maybe for now for a little bit of time, I have a break." I said and Bucky just sighed and started pacing.

"Sophia, you will be given every opportunity to pick someone you have a connection with, and you will be allowed to say yes or no. I wouldn't just marry you of to someone to do so." Bucky said and I just stayed silent. "I'm trying to make this easy for you Sophia. I know you want to be married and a mother, it's all you have ever talked about since you were a kid."

"Yeah, well maybe I have changed my mind since I have gotten older. I would be more than happy to go live on the Barnes estate and just be alone for the rest of my life." I said.

"Why are you being like this?" Bucky pleaded.

"Like what? Speaking my mind?" I asked.

"No just being so headstrong and being yourself. You were slways willing to get along with everything before but now all the sudden everything has to be difficult." Bucky said.

"Can we just talk about this tomorrow after I get some sleep tonight? I feel a little faint and I would just like to lay down. I have a lot to consider." I finally admitted.

"Fine, get some sleep. Tomorrow morning you, Rebekah and I will have breakfast and discuss the future." Bucky said and I just nodded.

"Tomorrow morning." I said and he walked over to me placing his hands on my shoulders and looked me in the guys.

"I love you Sophia and I only want the best for you." Bucky said. I just nodded. He kissed my forehead and walked out the door. I heard him leave the living area and I sat back down only this time on the foot of the bed, and I looked at the secret door.

I had to fight wanting to go through it and make him go talk to Bucky now but he had to make the choice himself, this was on Steve, not me. If Steve wouldn't speak up in time then he was going to have to suffer me courting and marrying someone else. I knew he could always deny me marrying someone else but then he would have to admit his feelings and I didn't think he was ever going to do that, and he was going to make me a lonely old maid.

A few hours later I got ready for bed with the help of Natasha.

"Are you paying King Steve a visit tonight?" She asked in hushed tones.

"No, I will be staying here. King Steve and I aren't seeing eye to eye on something." I said and Natasha just looked at me in the mirror.

"I hope you know what you're doing. An upset King is a beast to everyone else." Natasha said and I walked over to get into bed.

"Then the King should really look into the option I gave him." I smirk at Natasha as she smiled back.

She helped me get into bed and then handed me my book from my table.

"Good night, Lady Barnes." Natasha said and closed my door leaving the room.

I stayed up reading just to see if anything would be tried. After some time, my eyes grew heavy, and I got comfortable in bed. As I was just falling into a deep sleep, I heard the handle on the secret door jiggle like someone trying to get in. I knew exactly who it was, and I just ignored it. There was a small knock and I still ignored it.

I heard him growl something and then I knew he was gone. He was made, I knew he would be...tomorrow we would have the beast.
