**Steve**
After I heard what Sophia said to my mother and Rebekah about moving on if something happened to her in childbirth I didn't let her out of my sight for a few days. Only time my eyes weren't on her was when we were sleeping but she was in my arms so I knew she was near me.
I knew why she said what she said but there was never going to be someone other than Sophia that I would want in my life as my wife. I don't know what would happen to me if I lost her but I did know I would be a mess but I would also have a child to raise.
I woke up one morning and Sophia wasn't in bed. I was surprised she wasn't in bed, I had kept her up making her mine most of the night. She couldn't get enough and in turn I couldn't get enough of her.
I opened my eyes and saw her wrapped in a sheet, sitting on a stool at her easel that she set up a few days ago. The sun was rising and she was looking out the balcony trying to capture the sun sent on the canvas.
I sat up in bed and just watched her paint. She looked happy and content in her own little world. I knew she liked the silence and the time she had to just be Sophia.
I saw her slightly bend over and groaned.
"Hey you in there. You already woke me up once, you can stop kicking now." Sophia chuckled and rubbed her stomach. I smiled and quietly got out of bed. I wrapped my arms around her stomach and rubbed my hands on her stomach.
"Be nice to mom. She can punish you when you make your arrival you know." I said and Sophia giggled and leaned back into me and moaned.
"I was hoping you would sleep for a little longer. I wanted to surprise you with this painting." Sophia said and I kissed her neck and exposed shoulder.
"It's gorgeous already." I said and moved to her ear and nipped her earlobe.
"Steve, usually I would be all over your moves right now but I'm not feeling the best..." Sophia said and I looked concerned.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Yeah I think the baby is just shifting or something. My stomach feels super tight and my lower back is killing me." Sophia explained.
"Would you like me to get Dr. Banner? I mean it's too soon for the baby to arrive right?" I asked.
"I mean I'm only about 7 months now...usually a woman goes 9." Sophia said.
"Yes too soon. Let's get your nightgown on you and then I'll call for Banner." I said. Sophia went to protest but then doubled over in pain. I grabbed her nightgown from the floor and then her robe. We got her dressed and set up in bed. I put my own robe on and rushed out to see Peter coming in with breakfast.
"Put those down and go get Dr. Banner now. It's an emergency." I snapped. Peter set the trays down and rushed from the room.,
"Steve please calm down." Sophia asked from the bed as I paced right inside our bedroom door. She was rubbing her stomach and had her eyes closed, breathing through the pain.
"Sophia, I will calm once I find out what is going on." I said.
"Please come here." Sophia beckoned for me. I walked over and sat next to her on the bed. She took my hand and I kissed the back of hers.
"If something happens..."
"Sophia stop." I snapped.
"Listen to me Steven! If something happens to me or the baby you do not go into a dark hole do you hear me?!" Sophia snapped and I leaned in kissing her forehead.
"Nothing is going to happen." I said more pleading than anything.
"Promise me." Sophia whispered as some tears escaped from her eyes.
"I promise." I said. I didn't believe what I agreed to but Sophia seemed to.
Dr. Banner then walked in the room and looked at both of us.
"King Rogers, I need to exam Lady Rogers privately." Dr. Banner said.
"I'm not leaving her side." I snapped.
"Steve, go." Sophia said and I growled. I then leaned down and gave her a passionate kiss. I walked out of the room and stayed in the sitting room.
I was pacing back and forth as my mother came rushing in with Bucky.
"I heard Dr. Banner was called in to check on Sophia." Bucky panicked and I sighed.
"Dr. Banner asked me to leave. She has tightness in her stomach and back pain." I said still pacing.
"Would you like me to see if I can be in there?" Sarah asked and I moved out of the way of the door as Sarah walked in but never came back out which gave me some comfort.
"She told me if something happens to her I can eventually move on." I said and Bucky looked at me.
"She doesn't want you alone." Bucky said.
"If Sophia is gone I have nothing to live for." I snapped at Bucky and he sighed walking up to me and placing his hands on my shoulders making me look at him.
"Sophia is strong and tough. Nothing will happen to her but if by chance something does, she would want you happy and I will be sure to follow through with the wish for her." Bucky said. I just looked at him and then hung my head with a sigh.
"I never thought it would be like this. Me here, worrying about my wife and our unborn child. I never thought I would get this lucky and now that I have...I can't lose it." I explained.
"And you won't." Bucky said.
He let me go back to pacing. The door finally opened and I looked to see Dr. Banner and he was looking directly at me.
"Well...?" I snapped.
"Lady Rogers is perfectly healthy as well as the baby. It seems as though the baby is just moving and getting into a better position as well as her body getting ready to give birth. Right now though I would like her to do very minimal. She is to relax and be in bed most of the time." Dr. Banner said and I half nodded.
"Okay I will make sure she stays in bed." I said.
"I will be back in a week to check on her. I don't want her coming to me, I will come to her." Dr. Banner said and I nodded.
"Okay, I will let her know. Thank you Dr. Banner."
Dr. Banner walked out and I looked at Bucky before I rushed back in the bedroom and I saw Sarah getting Sophia set up in bed.
"Sarah, I promise I'm okay and comfortable." Sophia chuckled.
"Well we just want to make sure." Sarah said and I nodded in agreement.
"Get used to the pampering." I told her as Bucky brought in the food trays.
"Food!" Sophia exclaimed and we laughed as Bucky took her the one food tray.
"We will leave you two alone." Sarah said. Bucky kissed the side of Sophia's head and left the room. I got in bed with my tray and Sophia leaned her head on my shoulder.
"Dr. Banner told me no more strenuous activities." Sophia said and giggled as I laughed.
"So basically keeping my hands to myself...?" I asked.
"Along with other body parts." Sophia said and we laughed.
We went about eating breakfast and then cuddled in bed the rest of the day. I read to Sophia as she was cuddled into my side. This was the best moment of my life.
