41 - Date Night Conversations

It was a few weeks after the babies were born and everything was falling into place. Steve was very attentive. Back to our chambers at a decent time and even getting up throughout the night to help me.

I was finishing feeding Alice, George had been feed and burped. I was getting ready to burp Alice when Steve came in with Wanda.

"Let me take her Lady Rogers." Wanda said and I sighed as she took the cloth from me and my daughter.

"What is going on? I always said I would do it myself." I asked Steve and he sighed extending his hand to me. I took it and he helped me stand up.

"I know that Sophia, no one is taking that away from you. At this moment though I would like a private moment with my wife that isn't taken over by babies." Steve smirked and I smiled back at him.

"King Rogers are you jealous of your children?" I mocked. He chuckled.

"Not jealous...not really..." Steve trailed off and I laughed.

"Wanda, we will be back. Pepper is here if needed. Nat will be with us." Steve said and Wanda nodded. I took one last look at my babies as I walked out of the bedroom.

As we left the chambers all together Nat was walking behind us with the guards.

"Where are we going?" I asked and Steve winked as we walked hand in hand. We made it outside finally to the gardens and I smiled.

"Months before you had Alice and George you said you wanted to go on nighttime walks with me and not just Nat. Well I think it's time I make good on that with you." Steve said and I smiled up at him as he leaned down and gave me a small kiss.

We walked in silence as I looked up at the stars and I noticed Steve looking at me.

"You're staring your highness..." I trailed off. I then looked at him. He just sighed and stopped walking.

"Sophia, I haven't been the best husband I promised you I would be and I don't know if I can ever make up for that. What I need you to know is, I do apologize for all I have done. I know it doesn't mean much now especially since the babies have arrived. You have given me everything I have ever wanted in my life. Not just a heir and a wife, you have given me the family I always hoped to achieve. You are all I have ever wanted and I am doing everything in my power to make you see that." Steve said and I gave a small smile.

"When I was brought here I didn't know what to expect. I mean hell I was practically engaged to someone else. When you approached me for a dance I was shocked, there was no way I would have imagined you would even look at me twice, let alone remember the private passage for us to use since you were scared of Bucky." I chuckled and Steve nodded with a smirk. "But you did and I instantly fell in love with you, I didn't think it was possible. Soon you were consuming all of my thoughts and I found myself wondering where you were every minute of the day. Now we are married and have two of the best babies in the world, I'm happy with the decisions I have made to be with you." I continued. Steve place a hand gently on my cheek, leaned down and passionately kissed me.

I gripped the lapels of the jacket he was wearing so he wouldn't release from the kiss anytime soon. I moaned in the kiss and Steve growled breaking us apart.

"Sophia, I would love to stand here and just make out with you but it's going to lead to wanting more and Banner hasn't released you yet." Steve said and I sighed.

"I know...I know." I grumbled.

Steve chuckled, kissed my forehead and we continued to walk.

"So I was thinking the other night, we should have your coronation soon." Steve said and I took a deep breath.

"Oh...yeah...that. I thought I would have more time to get used to being a mother before you threw Queen at me." I said and Steve sighed.

"How long were you wanting to wait?" Steve asked.

I shrugged, "I don't know I just figured the twins would be a little older than what they are now. I mean I know we left the babies with Wanda and Pepper and they are very capable. I just don't like leaving them alone too long and once I'm Queen I will be gone from them all the time." I explained.

"Sophia, you'll be queen, you can make your own schedule and if there are times you just want to be with the babies you can be with the babies. My mother was exactly that way. Yes she knew she had to hold court sometimes or attend certain events with my father but mostly she was with me. You could learn a lot from her." Steve said and I just half nodded.

"I could." I said. "Will people accept me as queen?" I asked.

"Of course they will!" Steve said as we made the rounds walking in the garden. "Now you get to pick what we do. We can either have a private romantic dinner alone...guards and Nat outside the closed doors. Or we go back to the room and eat with the babies." Steve offered. I smiled at him and pressed my body against his.

"I would like to have a romantic dinner with my husband." I said and Steve smiled wrapping his arms around me. We just stood holding onto each other for a few minutes.

Before we could walk away Bucky came rushing out.

"Sorry to interrupt but King Rogers we just got word from the guards out on watch that Zolas forces are moving in and fast. We need to plan an attack." Bucky said and I looked up at Steve. He looked down and me, then to the guards.

"Get my wife, my children, my mother and Rebekah to the safe spot and do not let them leave until I give permission!" Steve snapped and the guard went into action. He then looked down at me. "You'll be safe, I know you have never seen the safe spot but you will be safe. Your ladies, my mother's ladies and Rebekah's will be going with you. I have to go deal with this." Steve said and I nodded as he leaned down and passionately kissed me.

"Be safe and come back to us." I whispered when we broke apart. I knew he would go to the war front lines.

"I will, I promise."

I walked over to Bucky and hugged him.

"You come back to us as well." I said and he nodded and kissed my cheek.

"I will. I promise to keep Steve safe. And don't do anything stupid until I get back." Bucky gave a smirk.

"How can I? You're taking all the stupid with you." I replied.

I hugged Bucky again and then a guard approached.

"Lady Rogers, we need to go." He said and I nodded. I took one last look at Steve and Bucky as tears filled my eyes. I was then rushed off with guards all around me.
