**Steve**

I sat in court and meetings all day. I knew I upset Sophia this morning and I knew I crossed a line. She wanted me there and I couldn't even do that for her and our child.

I was finally getting a break from everyone and I looked at Peter.

"Can you go to my chambers and ask my wife to join me please?" I asked. Peter nodded and ran off.

"Bringing my sister to you, you must really miss her..." Bucky trailed off.

"You have no idea." I said.

I didn't dare tell Bucky we had fought this morning. I knew if he knew I upset her especially in her condition, he would punch me for sure.

"How has she been handling the new position as your wife?" Bucky asked and I sighed.

"She is lonely Buck and I don't know what to do about it. I mean I can only be with her so much..." I trailed off and Bucky sighed.

"Sophia was always the one we had to keep entertained as a child. She never made many friends." Bucky admitted.

"So what do I do?" I asked.

"Just find out her interests. I know she used to love to paint and draw. In fact I thinks she still does. Maybe get her some paint sets." Bucky suggested. I smiled at this knowing it was a good idea.

I thought back to a time when Sophia painted a picture for my mother. She was maybe 6 or 7 but my mother made such a big deal about this painting and it just made Sophia so happy.

There was silence in the room until Peter came rushing back.

"Your highness..." Peter said looking panicked.

"Is she on her way?" I asked.

"She isn't coming, she wasn't in your chambers. No one has seen her since this morning." Peter said.

"What?! When this morning?!" I yelled getting up from my chair.

"She never came back from her appointment." Peter said.

"Didn't you go with her to the appointment?!" Bucky asked me.

"I did but I was late and didn't make it in time. She was leaving when I arrived. We had a small argument about it and then I got called away for parliament." I said. I didn't have to look at Bucky to know he was clenching his fists and his face was turning red.

"Where could she be...? She wouldn't have left the palace." Bucky said and I sighed.

"No, not in her condition. And even if she did she would have had to have a carriage hooked up and I would have heard about it." I said and Bucky nodded.

"I will go see if she is with Rebekah." Bucky said and went to walk out. "Also don't think I won't be punching you later for this! You promised not to hurt her and since we can't find her, you hurt her." Bucky continued and walked out. I looked at Peter.

"Have you or anyone else seen Natasha or Wanda?" I asked.

"Natasha was seen accepting the food for Lady Rogers in your room but I checked myself she isn't there now, no one is." Peter said.

I got thinking and sighed knowing exactly where she was. I left the room and guards were quickly keeping up. We got to mine and Sophia's room and I opened the door. I then went into the bedroom and opened the secret passage.

Once I reached her door I found it unlocked and I sighed a sigh of relief. When I walked in I saw Sophia sleeping on the bed. She was leaning on the headboard and the book was lying open on her chest. I smiled. I walked to the bedroom door and peeked out, seeing Nat.

"So you found her..." Nat smiled and I nodded.

"I did and she's sleeping. I'm going to join her." I said and Nat nodded. I closed and locked the door. I walked over and moved the book from her chest and laid it on her table. I leaned down to her ear.

"Soph, lay down and be comfortable." I whispered and she scrunched her nose.

"Don't tell me what to do." Sophia said in her sleep. I kissed her forehead and she laid down. I sighed and then walked around to get into bed with her. I wrapped her in my embrace as she slept.

I heard her sniffling in her sleep and I looked down to see her crying.

"Soph...?" I asked concerned even though I knew she was still asleep.

"I miss my husband." Sophia whispered and I sighed.

"I'm right here." I answered her.

"I'm going to have this baby alone. He will never be around." Sophia said and I leaned my head back on the headboard closing my eyes.

"Sophia, I will be here, I promise you. I will be here for you." I said. She calmed slightly but placed an arm around my midsection and gripped tightly.

"Never leave me." She whispered and drifted back to her deep sleep. I sighed and kissed the top of her head.

Sophia was never used to court when Bucky brought her in. She was fresh-faced to all of this and then I just threw her for a bigger loop. I did this to her, I made her unhappy and that was never my intention.
