39 - Bliss

**Sophia**

I was on bedrest for a couple of days until the pain subsided. I took it easy from that moment on, only because I had Steve, Bucky, Rebekah, Sarah and Nat constantly hovering.

Now however a month and a half later, I was up. I was pacing the room and working on my breathing. Sarah and Rebekah were in the room with me. Along with some nurses and ladies in waiting.

I stopped and gripped the footboard of the bed as another contraction ripped through my body. I tried to be quiet and moan my way through it but it was hard.

Steve and Bucky were on the other side of the door, waiting impatiently and I knew that. Steve had also fought with Sarah and a nurse about being in with me but it wasn't appropriate for him to be here.

I felt a hand on my back as I worked through the contraction and it was Sarah.

"You got this Sophia, breathe through it..." Sarah said.

I had been breathing through these contraction all night and the day. It was now evening again and I didn't think I was any closer to giving birth to this baby. It was refusing to come out.

"I need Steve..." I whispered as the contraction subsided.

"He isn't supposed to be in here Sophia..." Rebekah said.

"He doesn't have to stay but I just need to see him." I said. Sarah looked at Rebekah and gave a small nod.

As Rebekah walked to the door I cried out in another contraction as Dr. Banner then took notice.

"Get her on the bed." He said as Rebekah and Sarah helped me over to the bed and laid in the position the nurses had set up.

I hiked up my nightgown I was wearing as Dr. Banner checked everything out.

"I think it's time to start pushing Lady Sophia. Are you ready?" Dr. Banner asked and I half nodded.

"Okay when you feel the next contraction. I want you to push." Dr. Banner said and I nodded. Sarah was on one side of me and Rebekah on the other.

I felt the contraction coming and I screamed out as I pushed. I had never felt anything like this before. I felt like I was being ripped in half. After a few contractions and a lot of screaming and pushing I heard a baby crying. I looked at Dr. Banner.

"A baby boy." He announced and I fell back relieved and trying to catch my breath. The wet nurse cleaned him off and brought him over to me and I held him.

"Hello my handsome boy." I whispered at him and kissed his forehead.

"Take him to Steve." I said to Nat and she smiled taking the baby. Nat walked to the door and I watched her disappear outside the door.

Before I even knew what was happening another contraction was ripping through my body.

"What is happening?!" I cried out. Dr. Banner gave a weak smile up at me.

"You're having twins Lady Sophia. We didn't noticed before but you are having another baby."

I just looked at Sarah and she leaned down kissing my forehead.

"I can't do this, I can't..." I whimpered out.

"You can, you're strong and brave and you can do anything." Sarah said and I gave a small smile.

The contractions came, I pushed, cried and screamed. Nat had rushed back in with the baby boy when she heard the screaming.

Soon I felt the pressure release in an instantly and Dr. Banner held up another baby. "A baby girl!" He announced and I sighed contently.

I leaned back on the bed and closed my eyes.

"Sophia?" Rebekah asked and I half nodded.

"I'm so tired..." I whined and Dr. Banner nodded.

"That's not uncommon. She has slight blood loss but she will be fine." Dr. Banner went back to work on me, closing me up.

"Sophia, someone wants to meet you." Sarah said and was handed my daughter. I sat up the best I could and took her from Sarah.

"A son and a daughter..." I whispered as Nat walked over and handed me my son.

"Now we know why you were so big instantly." Nat said and I nodded with a smile.

"When can Steve come in?" I asked looking at everyone.

"Once everything is all cleaned up." The one nurse said and I sighed with a nod. I was holding my two infants in my arms. I had only planned for one, I had no clue there would be two.

Dr. Banner got everything cleaned up and me all fixed up.

"I want to see you in a week Lady Sophia, you will need a check up as well as the babies." Dr. Banner said and I nodded.

He walked out and I heard Steve trying to get answers from him outside the room.

"Can you all excuse me and let my husband in before he kills someone?" I asked and everyone giggled. Rebekah and Sarah kissed opposite side of my head and then walked out with the nurses.

They weren't gone for than 5 seconds, Steve was opening the door and rushing in. He stopped  instantly seeing me holding two babies.

"Surprise." I said with a smiled and Steve walked slowly to the bed and then crawled in beside me.

"Two babies..." Steve said in shock.

I handed him his son and he held on to him. "A boy and a girl." I said and Steve smiled down at his son.

"I can't believe this." Steve said and I nodded.

"You're telling me, you didn't just push them out." I laughed and Steve kissed the side of my head.

"I wanted to be in here so bad. I hated hearing you outside the room screaming and knowing I could do nothing." Steve said.

"Well I say we break protocol if we have more kids and you are in the room with me." I said and Steve nodded.

"Sounds like a good plan to me." Steve said and I nodded placing my head on his shoulder. "We still need to pin down names." Steve spoke up after a few minutes and I sighed.

"Well we said for a boy it would be George Joseph Rogers." I said and Steve nodded.

"Okay well he is taken care of." Steve said kissed his son's forehead. "What about our little princess?" Steve asked.

I thought and then smiled, "Alice Cathrine Rogers." I said and Steve smiled.

"I love it." Steve said and I smiled down at our daughter. "George and Alice, future trouble makers in the palace." I laughed and Steve laughed with me.

"They are perfect Sophia. You did an amazing job." Steve said.

"We created them Steve, we did an amazing job." I looked at him with a smile. He leaned in and gave me a small kiss. We broke apart and just relaxed in bed in a state of new parent bliss.
