"It's going to be the coldest night of the year tonight, and there isn't a single lead on where Lydia might be,"
To say that Josephine Cohen was growing restless would be an understatement. She'd barely gotten a second of sleep that night after leaving the woods, having to listen to the sounds of her aunt and uncle fighting over Lydia's disappearance down in the kitchen. The young red head had chose to sleep in Lydia's bed that night, hoping that being able to smell her signature perfume and surround herself with every piece of the girl she considered her sister would calm her.
Allison had all but tried to force the girl to stay with her that night, but the last thing that Josie wanted was to be in a house full of hunters when it seemed that she was already on thin ice with the Argent family without ever having done anything to them. Stiles, though he had stumbled over his words for several minutes, had also offered, but the group agreed that Sheriff Stilinski may have had a heart attack if it wasn't cleared with him first. As Scott had said teasingly, it wasn't usual for Stiles to 'have girls over', which had earned him a slap to the back of his head.
It was the Argent girl who sighed, shooting her friend what she hoped to be a comforting glance as they approached her locker in the crowded hallways.
"Have you talked to Stiles today? I'm sure his dad is working around the clock in order to try and find her,"
"The boys had early lacrosse practice, and we've had tests in practically every class so I haven't had time to talk much with either of them," Josie sighed, shaking her head. "He literally just got detention from Harris last period, Scott and I barely managed by without it.
Allison popped open her locker, switching out her books into her bag as Josie leaned against the one next to her, surveying the hallways around them as students passed by in hushed whispers.
"We're going to find Lydia, I promise. Believe me, I'd be out there in the woods right after school looking, too, if it wasn't for..."
Josie felt like a terrible friend the second that Allison grabbed the wrapped up black dress out of her locker, needing to change into it right after the final bell of the day. She sighed, banging her head slightly on the locker behind her.
"Your aunt's funeral. God, I'm a terrible friend, I completely forgot. I'm so sorry-"
"Josie, it's okay," Allison tried to laugh it off, but it was clear that it wasn't totally genuine. "Finding Lydia is the priority, okay? This is just something I...don't really have a say in. Believe me, it's the last place that I want to be, especially when more of the family is coming into town for it."
The girls shared smiles as Allison picked up a folded up piece of paper that had fallen in her locker, slowly unrolling it as Josie could see the heat instantly travelling up her neck and cheeks. The red head leaned over her brunette friend to read it quickly.
