Lydia Martin was completely aware of the eyes following her around her bedroom. Those same eyes had been following every single move that she had made since she'd finally stopped screaming earlier in the night inside the ice rink. The strawberry blonde couldn't help but roll her eyes, hands settled on her hips as she turned toward her doorway.
"You don't need to watch my every move, you know? I am capable of getting ready for bed alone,"
Josephine laughed lightly, looking down at the floor for a moment before glancing back up at her cousin with a tiny smile.
"I know. Earlier in the rink was just a little...concerning,"
"Great, someone else that thinks I'm crazy,"
The red head let out a sigh as the Martin girl turned back around, fixing her sleep shirt as she pulled back her comforter to crawl into her own bed. Josie was at her side before she could settle in, gently gripping her cousin's arm and turning Lydia to face her again.
"I don't think you're crazy, Lyds, that's not what I'm saying," she carefully tried to explain. "I just...I'm concerned because I care."
"That's why you've practically been ignoring me since the first week of school?"
That comment had Josie biting into her bottom lip, confessions ready to roll off her tongue. She didn't want to lie to Lydia about all this supernatural stuff, about her own supernatural abilities, but keeping her out of it seemed like the best way to keep her safe. Lydia's safety, and the safety of anyone she cared about, were Josie's only priorities at this point in her life. Even, if at this point, it meant protecting Lydia from herself.
"I've been a terrible cousin, I know that," Josie relented, nodding her head. "And I am so sorry for that. Scott and Stiles...I just clicked with them, you know? It's been easy to talk to them, and I like hanging with them. And Allison- you can't tell me that even you expected to become this close with her."
It was quiet for a moment as Lydia looked down at the floor before back up at Josie with a non-serious eyeroll.
"Well, yes, but I just want you to talk to me, Josie," Lydia threw her arms out as she spoke to her, shaking her head. "Look, I'm glad you have friends you can talk to, even if I still don't entirely approve of the whole Stiles and Scott thing. Though your crush on that spaz is so obvious,"
"Lydia, I do not-"
"-but I have watched you have constant panic attacks for the last few months, and since you started hanging out with those dorks these last few weeks they've practically stopped. I will always be grateful to them for that," it was Lydia who reached forward, taking Josie's hands in her own perfectly manicured ones and squeezing them tightly. "I know I'm the stone faced, cold-hearted Lydia Martin...but with you I'm just Lydia. Just talk to me, like you always have. You don't need to get wrapped up in this weird idea of protecting me."
