Chapter 58

Izayoi's P. O. V:

We continue travelling for the next three days without any attacks. It was sunset before we even get to Biei Town when Kakashi decides we should stop to rest for the night.

Kakashi and I had set up a fire and I was preparing dinner.

"We're almost at your hometown," Kasumi was saying to Leo. He nods.

"Yeah."

It was silent for awhile, until I freeze, sensing nearby enemies.

I immediately douse the fire with a pot of water as Kasumi hisses, "Izayoi, what are you—?!"

I shush her and we all fall silent as I silently unsheathe Shoten, and Kakashi takes out a kunai.

"It looks like they've sensed us. Oh, well. You have your orders!" Says a brown haired man as he suddenly appears before me, an incredibly sharp looking sword in hand.

"Yes, sir!" Two others chime as they engage with Kasumi and Kakashi. My blonde teammate stays close to Leo as she sends out a dragon made of fire. I hear Kakashi clashing his kunai against his opponents' own blade.

I block my opponents' blade which emits a clang. "Tell me, what are you after?" I demand to know.

The brown haired man smirks. "I think it's rather obvious."

"Leo," I murmur in understanding before I'm pushed back. I clash my sword against his and we exchange vicious blows, sparks flying in the night.

Kakashi dodges a sword attack before slashing his opponent and Kasumi sends out mini fireballs. Her opponent tries to get to Leo but she creates a wall of pink cloud to prevent him from getting to our client.

Kakashi uses his Sharingan to copy his opponents' techniques, throwing Earth Style back and forth. He eventually manages to slug his opponent in the stomach.

I feint for the leader's left side but sun for his right shoulder, which he blocks. He tries to slash my stomach but I block that, too. I nearly manage to graze his right arm but the man dances out of the way.

He attempts to slash me from behind but I narrowly avoid it by whirling around. I swing my sword but it clashes against his, and again, and again, and again. The man thrusts me backwards but I keep my footing.

I change my sword to my Black Wing blade and slash it in two crescent shapes, one vertical and the other horizontal.

My opponent smirks before he reaches for another sword and holds it outward. To my surprise, my attack is absorbed by his sword, and it changes to match my own sword.

"But how?!" I exclaim.

He explains, "My sword, Akikage, can absorb chakra and adapt to that chakra. So, technically speaking, it just basically copied your sword." He then swings it the same way I did and my own attack is shot at me.

I barely manage to block it as I grunt.

"Izayoi!" Kakashi calls in concern.

"I'm fine," I grit out.

Kakashi looks relieved before blocking his opponents' attack and launching an earth dragon at him. He uses his own earth dragon against Kakashi.

Kasumi's opponent gets around her cloud wall and slashes her side with his kunai. She grunts at the pain.

The red haired man is about to attack Leo but Kasumi rams a wall of pink cloud into him, throwing the man back quite a bit.

Kakashi sends out a massive fireball which hits his opponent.

"So your sword can adapt to any chakra it absorbs?" I mutter. "Very well, then." I change Shoten to my Clear Heart sword and charge at my opponent.

"It's useless! It won't work," He tells me.

I slash several times but he deflects my sword. Just when I go to plunge it into him, he vanishes from in front of me. I whip around as I hear my husband grunting before my opponent knocks him to the ground with a slash of his sword.

"Kakashi!" I call fearfully.

"This is the end for you!" Says the brunette as he raises his sword. He goes to plunge it into Kakashi who is on one knee, frowning up at him.
