Y/n stared silently as she stood in front of a brick wall she was supposed to run full speed at. She was either going to begin a magical new adventure or make a huge fool out of herself. With one last hesitant look at Hermione and her parents she pushed her trunk, closed her eyes, and braced for impact...

But nothing came.

She hesitantly opened her eyes just to see an entirely new world in front of her. There were students new and old buzzing around the station. She saw parents hugging their children goodbye. She saw friends hugging and reuniting. There were owls in cages and cats in arms.

The train itself was bright red except for the very front which was coal black with the words "Hogwarts Express" written neatly across it. Every window showed students of varying ages talking to each other and ushering in the new school year.

Y/n took a deep breath before turning back to her family who stood behind her.

"I'm going to miss you guys." Y/n frowned.

"We'll miss you so much, but you're going to have the time of your life." Mrs. Granger said with teary eyes.

Y/n nodded before hugging both her parents tightly.

"Oh, don't forget to brush at school!" Mrs. Granger said.

"Don't forget to floss either!" Mr. Granger added making Y/n start to giggle. Before long they were all laughing.

When the laughter quieted down, Y/n turned to Hermione.

"Oh Mione..." Y/n trailed off as she stared at her best friend and younger sister.

Hermione just lunged forward and pulled her into a bone crushing hug.

"You better write to me every week." She sniffled.

"I will, Hermione. Every week." Y/n replied as she held her even tighter.

Suddenly, the train whistle interrupted their embrace and folks started to rush onto the train. Y/n gave her family one last hug before grabbing her trunk and her new cat and walking towards the train. She gave one last fleeting look to them before boarding. As the train pulled out of the station, Y/n realized not only was she leaving her family and old life behind but she was entering a completely new world. Once her family wasn't in sight anymore, she lugged her trunk around until she found an empty compartment. She sighed in relief and sat down on the comfortable seats.

She stared out the window for a while. There were beautiful rolling hills and green grass. After a little there were barely any houses or buildings at all. She admired the clouds and the way the white blended into the blue so beautifully until she was distracted by the sound of the compartment door opening. When she looked over she saw a boy and a girl her age.

"Oh sorry! We didn't realize someone was already in here. Do you mind if we join you?" The girl asked.

"No, not at all!" Y/n replied ecstatically hoping to make her first friends at Hogwarts.

"I'm Lucy Diggory and this is my twin brother Cedric Diggory." The girl smiled kindly as she introduced themselves.

They both had fair skin, strong noses, thin pink lips, and dirty brown hair. Aside from that they looked completely different.

Lucy had shoulder length hair that was pin straight and shiny. Cedric's hair was short, a little ruffled yet still perfectly styled, and slightly wavy where small pieces fell into his face. Lucy had emerald green eyes that were wide set. Cedric had grey eyes that were shaped more like almonds.

"I'm Y/n Granger." Y/n responded politely making both the twins smile.

That's when she found another thing they had in common. Their wonderful smiles.
