Dear Mione,

I don't have much time to write this, but I wanted to send an update. It's the first day and I can already tell I'm going to love it here. It feels like home. I've made two friends. They're names are Lucy and Cedric Diggory and they are halfblood twins. I'll explain what halfblood means later... It's a long story. Cedric is a Hufflepuff which is one of the four houses and is known for its loyalty and kindness. Lucy and I are both Ravenclaws and we're known for our creativity and love for learning. It does sound like a bit of me doesn't it? They're both very sweet. There was this other girl in my Potions (I still can't believe this is a real class I'm taking) class that I was partnered with. Her name is Dina Avery and she's a Slytherin. Slytherin has a reputation amongst some for housing mean students, but Dina is positively sweet. I think she and I will also be good friends. It's fun here, but it's hard not to get a little homesick. I miss you, mum, and dad so much already. Give them my love please.

All my love,
Delia

Dear Mione,

MARRY POPPINS IS REAL?????!!!?!?!?!?! She was like a real witch who actually existed and was alive and went to Hogwarts. How cool is that? I am still in shock. I am currently stalking the library to try and find more information on movie characters who aren't characters.

All my love,
Delia

Dear Mione,

It's been a couple months and I think now I can confidently say that everything here is wildly different. Things that were ordinary back home are filled with magic here. The dining hall is full of floating candles that make the room look like a Van Gogh painting. There's two fire headed twins who run around pulling pranks that I didn't know were possible. It reminds me of when we watched The Parent Trap. Also Hogwarts is not a castle because it's literally a maze. At any of the many twisting turns there are stunning, complicated, perplexing, and seemingly illegal details. You're lucky you've got that book to read up on before coming here because you won't be taken by surprise like me. I mean imagine my surprise when I'm walking back to my dorm from class and the staircase I'm standing on STARTS MOVING. Lucy, Cedric, and Dina were all with me but they just laughed at how scared I was. I couldn't understand why they weren't terrified, but apparently magical folk are already prepared for this. To make matters worse, one of the paintings started laughing at my reaction too. Yes, that's right. One of the paintings started laughing. Oh yeah, the paintings can talk!!!! This place is crazy. Anyways, I have to rush to go write my potions essay. The professor is such a twat! Don't tell mum I said that.

All my love,
Delia

Dear Mione,

I'll see you tomorrow on platform 9 and 3/4.

All my love,
Delia

Dear Mione,

Today marks the start of another long year away from you. I'm thrilled to be back at Hogwarts though. It's fantastic to see Dina, Lucy, and Cedric after the long summer apart. Dina seems sort of sad. She doesn't talk about it much, but her family (the Avery's) seem really controlling and harsh. Apparently, they're one of these famous "sacred 28" family pure bloodlines. I don't press it though, just make sure she knows she can talk to us. She'll come to us when she's ready. Cedric has gotten taller and fitter over the summer from practicing for quidditch tryouts. All his work seemed to pay off well since he made the team!!! We're all so excited to come watch his first game. I have to go before the sorting ceremony starts!

All my love,
Delia

Dear Mione,

Happy Birthday!! I can't believe you're a witch too!!!!! There is so much I have to tell you. I've talked to Professor McGonagall and Mum and they're letting me come home this weekend for a quick visit so I can see you! I have so many gifts for you I had to use a hex to help me fit them all in my trunk.

All my love,
Delia

Dear Mione,

Today's been a really hard day today. Some wizards and witches here really don't like people like me, muggleborns. A stupid guy in my grade called me a "mudblood". I wasn't even sure what it meant, but I knew it was bad when it came out of his mouth like he was spitting venom. I felt so stupid. I just stood there staring at him. Cedric and Lucy told him off and Dina even went so far as to hex him. That was really cool. I'm really lucky to have the friends I do, but it's not the same. Some times like this all I want is my sister. I wish you were here. I hope you never have to hear stuff like this. You're so much better than the world deserves. My word of advice for life, don't ever take shit from someone else because you deserve better. You always will. But at the end of the day you will always have someone here in your corner because you'll always have me.

All my love,
Delia
