Christmas break had never felt so tense and stressful before.

Hermione was still stuck in the hospital recovering from her half cat transformation, but she was set to be released today. Harry and Ron were skittish and hardly seen  doing anything but suspiciously whispering between themselves. Ginny looked more exhausted every day that passed. She had even begun to develop dark eye bags. Lucy and Cedric were just as stressed as Y/n about becoming the next petrified student. They both started volunteering with Y/n in the greenhouse to take care of the mandrakes which would eventually provide the antidote to petrification. Dina said her time in Slytherin had become more unbearable due to the blood purists.

Despite the illuminating candles hanging everywhere in the great hall, there was darkness everywhere.

Y/n decided that there had been enough anguish for her friends and that they could all use some Christmas cheer. She wasn't sure how she would bring everyone's spirits up, but she knew she had to find a way.

It was that decision that led to her sneaking into the Gryffindor tower. Luckily, she didn't have to do much sneaking since Portia had come to be quite fond of the oldest Granger sister. Y/n tip toed up the girls' stairs and knocked on one of the first year dorms.

"Ginny?" Y/n whispered quietly, trying not to get caught.

The girl didn't respond.

"Ginny?" Y/n called again a little louder and cracked the door open a little.

This time the redhead looked up and jumped when she saw Y/n in front of her peering in through the door.

"Y/n! I'm sorry I didn't respond at first. I thought I was imagining your voice." Ginny confessed with a forced smile.

"Are you alright, Gin?" Y/n frowned deeply and stepped closer, closing the door behind her.

"I don't know." The young girl whispered so quietly Y/n almost didn't hear her.

"Let's do something fun, okay? I'm about to collect Hermione from the hospital wing. Can I count on you to get Harry and your brothers and meet us in the main courtyard?" Y/n asked with a bright smile that she hoped would become contagious.

"The courtyard?" Ginny questioned curiously.

"Yes, bring gloves!" Y/n called before leaving the dorm with a twinkle of hope in her eyes.

Y/n hummed excitedly and thought of her plan. Things were going to start looking up soon because they had to. Hermione was about to be out of the hospital and no longer half cat. All her friends would be able to enjoy a moment of peaceful fun amidst the chaos.

It was a moment they all desperately needed.

Y/n ran to her dorm and grabbed two pairs of gloves, a scarf for Hermione, and George's Gryffindor scarf for herself. On the way out of the Ravenclaw room Y/n yelled for Lucy to gather the rest of their friends and find them in the courtyard. Lucy was confused, but did exactly as her best friend said. Y/n continued her journey to the hospital wing.

"Hermione!" Y/n cheered excitedly when she saw her sister back to her usual self. She brought her into a tight hug without hesitation.

"Delia!" Hermione smiled warmly into the close embrace.

"Come on, I have a surprise for you." Y/n giggled and started to tug Hermione out of the dreary room.

"Where are we going?" Hermione's eyebrows raised in suspicion.

"You'll see." Y/n grinned mischievously and wrapped a scarf around her sister. Before leaving she turned to the head nurse. "Thank you for taking care of my sister, Madam Pomfrey!"
