Y/n Cordelia Granger was many things, but ignorant was not one of them nor would it ever be.

She knew well and good that werewolves were not the monsters they were made out to be by some magic folk just as muggles were not the monsters some magic folk made them out to be. There was nuance to this situation just like there was any other.

There was one fact in particular that added nuance that people often forgot and that was conveniently left out of most textbooks. A convenience she was sure was not accidental.

Werewolves are also humans and therefore they deserve to be treated as such.

She understood better than most what it felt like to be treated unfairly. She had been treated with hostility and harsh words since she was a child. People looked down on her and saw her as less because she was a girl. In addition to that, she had only been eleven years old when she discovered that even in a world of magic there were strict unshakeable values based on blood. Those same values informed her peers and adults and influenced them to hate her.

She also knew that if her peers and their parents found out what she had just discovered they would not be happy and that his job and very way of life would be at risk.

So when Y/n found out her Defense Against the Dark Arts professor was a werewolf she didn't tell anyone and she made sure George understood the situation and wouldn't either, not even Fred. The two swore one another to secrecy and kept good on their word for weeks without issue.

Y/n put the secret she'd discovered into the back crevices of her mind for safe keeping and instead opted to focus her attention on the day that was rapidly approaching. With each falling leaf, Halloween neared closer and closer until it was finally the day off.

Y/n, Cedric, Dina, and Lucy had found the perfect costume for the party that following Saturday to Y/n's absolute delight. She was determined to make up for their inability to do anything for Halloween last year.

After proposing doing their own solo costumes and a few different group costume ideas, they struck gold with one of their favorite movies, Ghostbusters, which was having the 10 year anniversary of its release.

Y/n had taken it upon herself as the group's only muggleborn witch to expose her best friends to any and all muggle culture that she could.

The four watched the Ghostbusters movie one night after Dina received a letter at dinner from her parents.

The Slytherin green wax seal of the letter stamped with the crest of the Avery family was a foreboding symbol that immediately pulled Dina's lips into a delicate frown. Her pale white skin become more ashen and sick looking as her eyes scanned the contents of the letter with a far off almost dissociative look within them.

As her friends, Lucy, Cedric, and Y/n had taken it upon themselves to do whatever it would take to cheer her up. That's how they ended up in the Room of Requirement sitting in front of the latest technology of the 90's, a grainy tv with a built in V.C.R. player, watching Ghostbusters with rapt attention and amused smiles.

"You lot ready to go to the Three Broomsticks?" Cedric asked his friends with a cheery look on his face as he swung his arm around Lucy and Y/n's shoulders like an older brother.

"Always." Y/n and Lucy answered at the same time without a beat of hesitation as they walked down the cobbled streets of Hogsmeade.

Dina was more distracted and didn't answer. Her head was swiveled showing only her head of dirty blonde hair and her eyes were narrowed as she looked around for something.

Cedric nodded his head towards the Slytherin girl with furrowed eyebrows. The movement silently asking the question that was clearly being thought in his mind.
