The Three Broomsticks Inn (Year 5)

The summer that followed Y/n's fourth year was different from those before.

Hermione stuck to Y/n's side like glue for much of the holiday. It seemed she was scared that the second she looked away Y/n would be laying down completely paralyzed in a hospital bed again.

The Granger sisters had no way of explaining this to their parents who were not aware of the happenings of the past school year. Even if they wanted to, they weren't sure how to explain that a magical monster had been unleashed by a Voldemort possessed Ginny and terrorized the school. Surely if they knew they would pull both girls out of Hogwarts immediately and though they wouldn't blame their parents for such they would be heartbroken. So instead, they decided to keep what happened a secret both for the sake of themselves and the sake of their parents who would certainly have a heart attack at the news. Y/n happily embraced the extra time with her younger sister, only separating from her when she needed time by herself or the times she went to visit her friends Cedric and Lucy Diggory.

The Diggory house was splendid. There was magic incorporated in many aspects, but thanks to their muggle mother there were also parts of their house that felt like home to Y/n.

Mr. and Mrs. Diggory were friendly people with kind hearts who readily welcomed Y/n into their home and insisted on her staying more often. Y/n shared a room with Lucy and the two best friends would stay up all night talking and sleep in all morning long until Cedric decided to wake them. Sometimes, he'd gently shake them awake, but more often than not he'd come up with some sort of mischievous way to force them out of their slumbers. One morning, he decided it was a brilliant idea to tickle Lucy and Y/n awake, but was swiftly met with vengeance when Lucy's leg instinctively responded by jutting out with force and landed on his stomach. They all shared a good laugh about it later over chocolate chip pancakes. Lucy would draft lyrics and Y/n would doodle while Cedric practiced flying around their extensive backyard.

In addition to that, Y/n continued to grow over the summer just as she had the summer before. Her height slowly inched upwards a little more during the warm months and her curves developed a little more. Her clothes fit her more flatteringly and her face matured a little. She had grown into even more of a knockout which was clear by the way people's eyes naturally lingered on her in every room she entered.

That being said, Hermione herself was starting to grow up too. Her face had gotten older, her eyelashes longer, her hair more styled, and her features more elegant.

As expected, there were no letters from Dina Avery or Harry Potter during the summer. Y/n Granger tried not to worry about them, but she couldn't help it. She hoped they were alright. She also hoped the Weasleys were alright, but she figured they were having buckets of fun in Egypt. Rowena knew they needed that vacation, Ginny especially. Sometimes at night Y/n wouldn't be able to sleep, unable to cleanse her mind from worries of George meeting a gorgeous Egyptian girl and falling in love with her.

It was silly and she knew that, but she couldn't help it. Luckily, she didn't need to worry for too long as soon it was nearing the end of summer and the Granger's received two letters from the familiar family of redheads. One of the letters was from Mrs. Weasley to Mrs. Granger and the other was from Ron to Hermione. Needless to say, both letters told drastically different stories.

Dear Mr. And Mrs. Granger,
We hope the summer vacation has been treating you well and that you've enjoyed having time with your girls away from Hogwarts. Mr. Weasley and I were honored to meet them last year and were reaching out to extend a similar invitation. My son Ron and your daughter Hermione's friend Harry Potter is meeting us at the Three Broomsticks which is a cozy inn that resides near the school. We were wondering if your two girls, Y/n and Hermione, could join us? Please respond at your earliest convenience.
Love,
Mrs. Weasley.
