Young Narcissa Black was full of life and ambition at Hogwarts. Not only was she already known because of her older sisters, but she had become one of the strongest wizards Hogwarts had known.

She was brilliant and aced all her classes with minimal effort, earning more than enough respect from her professors.

Although she was loved and respected, things began to change after she was 16. After her older sister, Andromeda, ran away with a muggle-born man, people looked at her differently.

Her sister had held the secret of her crush on the muggle-born for years before introducing the idea to their family. Without a doubt, it caused an uproar and many words to never be forgotten.

Narcissa could still remember the day her sister left; she could recall the sobs that came out of her mouth and how she screamed for her to come back, but she never did. She loved her sister dearly since she seemed to be the only sane person in this family.

On top of that, terrible rumors about her oldest sister, Bellatrix, started also. People suspected that she was to marry out of obligation to keep the pure bloodline, and she had run off to join the Death Eaters. Part of her knew she was always evil.

At such a young age, she stopped speaking to her sisters. They were both gone from Hogwarts and out of sight, including the fact that their family swore Andromeda off since she soiled their line.

It didn't make much sense to Narcissa how they would give up their own family so soon and swiftly, and deep down, she missed having her sister. But, during this time, it seemed no one cared about what Narcissa had to say.

No matter how many times she asked to contact her sister or have her home for dinner, her parents screamed in her face. The bloodline and reputation meant everything to her parents, no matter the cost. A life full of riches, yet she had never felt so poor in her life.

This act drew her away from her parents, not that their relationship was ever perfect, she talked less to them and chose to eat in her room more during her stays at home.

There was only one thing that could bring her much joy nowadays. One person, one might say. School, spells, and friends weren't cutting it anymore. But, one gentle Gryffindor did.

In her second year, she met a blonde-haired, soft-spoken, quiet boy. A boy who soon became attached to her hip, who always laughed at her jokes and wore large sweater vests.

After taking all the same classes and studying in all the same places, the two became intertwined. They became inseparable. People could question their friendship, wondering how a rich Slytherin girl and a poor Gryffindor boy could have so much in common, but they didn't care.
