Sabo looked at her reflection as she walked past a shop. She looked like her old self again, the disguise she'd worn while being in Ketterdam. She might pay a visit to the fighting pit, she thought, but she shot down that thought quickly. She was here for business, not reliving her old life.

'What did you gather from the meeting with Brum?' Najla asked as she walked beside her.

'Not much.' Sabo sighed. 'Brum didn't seem to trust me.'

'You went in as an ordinary drüskelle,' Najla thought out loud. 'The next time we send someone in they have to have a higher rank.'

Sabo agreed. 'But not with Brum.' Sabo replied. 'I have a feeling that he'll see through it very quickly.'

'Someone like Marren's rank?'

'Yes.' Sabo replied. 'I've already contacted Ian, he's going in undercover as him.'

'As Marren? Where is the real Marren then?' Najla asked as they walked by the now-closing stores.

'He's dead.' Sabo spoke.

'Dead?' Najla asked concerned. 'What happened?'

'I asked him what their system of communication was, Brum called it the pigeon system at the meeting but when I later asked Marren what it was I'd blown my cover. Turns out he had told his men a day before.'

'Too bad.' Najla said. 'But now we have someone in a higher rank. I'll pass the information along to the rest of our people.'

Our people, Sabo thought. The rest of the rebellion. Spies stationed across their world, trying to take down the drüskelle piece by piece.

'Tell them to look out for jurda parem.' Sabo said as they stopped in front of the Slat. 'I've heard that it is highly addictive for Grisha and Brum was very excited about it, which can only mean bad news.'

'Inej told me about the job. Are you sure that you're up for it?'

'Yes.' Sabo replied. 'I have a plan.' Sabo grabbed a piece of paper and a small plate from her bag. After Lorelai had changed her appearance she'd written down her plan. 'Memorize what is written on this paper and then destroy it.'

Najla opened the paper and started to read. 'But Sabo this...'

'If this plan succeeds, the rebellion will be stronger for it and we'll officially be at war with the drüskelle in two weeks.'

'And you're sure that you can pull this off alone?'

'I've learned a lot while I was with Ohval, believe me, I can pull this off.' She smiled at her. 'And if you agree with the plan, I won't be doing this alone completely.'

'All right.' Najla said as she hugged Sabo. 'Make sure you're coming back to us, yes?'

'You know I can't stay away from you guys for long enough.'

Najla nodded, still a little unsure. 'Sabo, I need to ask you something.'

Sabo let go of her and observed her expression, she looked afraid. 'Of course, is anything wrong?'

'I just got her back.' Najla replied. It was clear she'd been talking about Inej. 'She's so driven about buying a boat to hunt slavers that she'd agree to Brekker's ludicrous plan. Inej is after her revenge,' Najla said. 'And that can be blinding. I need you to make sure that she gets out of this job alive.'

'I promise you that Inej will return to you, very much alive.' Sabo vowed as she hugged her again.

'Khaj pa ve.' Najla said in Suli. We see you soon.
