Sabo had walked to a random room she had now claimed as her own and changed into something that wasn't wet.
As she opened her door, Jesper was waiting for her.
'Is Inej all right?' Sabo asked while fearing the worst.
'Nina's still working on her.' Jesper said as he walked past her into her room. Jesper laid down the thing he'd been holding onto the small table before sitting down.
Sabo closed the door behind her as she looked at what it was. Matthias' shackles. 'Kaz gave you the job of handling Matthias?'
'The most fun job.' Jesper sighed before he stood up again, he started pacing the room.
'You okay?'
'What if it's my fault?' Jesper said. 'What if this attack happened because of me?'
'Relax, Jes.' Sabo replied. 'You told them this like 4 hours ago, no way a collector could inform three groups so quickly.'
Jesper suddenly paced a little quicker.
'Jes?' Sabo asked while observing her friend.
'I may have told some other collectors two nights ago.'
Sabo sat down. 'Jes.' she said disappointed.
'I told them about the big money I was about to make.' he gulped. 'They were going to go to my dad, Sabo. To take away his farm.'
Sabo knew there was a big chance that Jesper may be the guilty one, the one who accidentally ratted them out. But if Jesper had told multiple collectors over two days, that meant that word got out, not just at the local gangs, but also at the drüskelle.
'You didn't betray us, Jesper. Stop it.' Sabo replied sternly as she walked toward him and grabbed his shoulders. 'Get it together, Jes. You would never betray us.'
'Not on purpose but Kaz won't see it that way.'
'To hell with Kaz.' Sabo replied. 'You're not telling him anything, Jesper and neither am I.'
Jesper started pacing again. 'What if Inej dies?' Jesper stammered. 'What if she dies?' he quaked again.
'She won't die.' Sabo insisted. 'She's Inej.'
Jesper was pacing quicker. If he acted this way around Kaz, Sabo knew that Kaz would make his own deductions.
Jesper needed to calm down.
'I said the same thing to someone else.' Sabo lied.
Kaz had shown her that he hadn't needed her in the past year, however, he did need Jesper.
'You did?' Jesper asked looking at her uncertainly. It wasn't like Sabo to tell people about how much money she made.
'I did.' She lied again. 'Listen, Jesper.' Sabo said as she sat down again. 'We didn't betray anyone. If there is someone that would betray us it is that drüskelle on the main deck.'
'Do you think he had time or space to warn someone?' Jesper wondered as he leaned on one of the spare chairs.
'He's a drüskelle and he was imprisoned with Pekka. It has to be him.'
Over the next few minutes, Jesper calmed down. Sabo grabbed the shackles and handed them to Jesper.
'Restraining drüskelle doesn't seem like the worst job now, does it?' Sabo said as she nodded to the door. Jesper grabbed the shackles from her as they walked towards the main deck.
