Healing Her: Kate Martin

Feelings

Reese's Pov: 

It's been around 2 months since my injury happened. And my knee is getting a lot better, I am able to do simple movements, I can drive again. But most importantly I can play basketball again well I can shoot, carefully. I was cleared by my physical therapist a couple days ago. Plus Emma is gonna be back in town today. It has been super hard not having her here to talk to about everything really. But I have been waiting to talk to her about one specific thing, well one specific person.

I have been getting closer to all the girls and started going back to practices for around 3 weeks ago. I have finally gotten into the mindset of being able to help encourage my teammates instead of feeling upset about not being about to play with them. I have had many conversations with Coach B about I should be feeling along with my therapist. Caitlin convinced me to begin talking to a therapist about both my injury and past trauma. And it has really helped. My mental health is the best it has been in a super long time. 

Since Emma is driving back today I decided to make her favorite food, tacos with salsa and home made guacamole. I figured it would be a good welcome home meal and a nice surprise. We have been talking constantly since she has been gone. We haven't been away from each other this long since college last year. She had came to Iowa right out of high school where I went to college back in Des Moines. 

A Couple of Hours Later

Reese's Pov:

Emma texted me around 10 minutes ago telling me she is 15 minutes out. She should be here at any time now. I placed our plates on the table with the guacamole and salsa. Then I grabbed the tacos and placed them on a hot plate. I got a glass of lemonade for the both of us and placed them down as well. I hear keys jangling and then the door handle turn. As she opens the door I "run" up to her and hug her tightly. "Hi M&M" "Hi Reese's pieces."

After we finished eating we turned on a One Tree Hill to have in the background as we caught up with each other. "So Reese how has it been with lover girl?" "It's been good, really good." "I'm glad Ree." "I actually want to talk to you about something." "Spill it girly." "I think I really like Kate, she is so sweet to me, always is there to talk or cuddle, she listens super well, and treats me so great." "It sounds like you are in love." "I think I am Em, I think I am in love with her."

Kate's Pov:

I think it's finally the day I talk to Caitlin about how I've been feeling. Caitlin has made us some dinner. As we are eating I decided it's a good time to mention it. "Hey C?" "Yeah Kate, what's up?" "Can I talk to you about something well more like someone?" "Of course." "Caitlin, I really like your sister, she so cute, and I'm so glad that she trusted me enough to tell me about everything she has been through. And I just want her to be happy." "I sounds like you love my baby sister Kate." She says in a serious tone but also slightly teasing. "I do Cait, I have loved her since the day I say her run into your arms."
