Healing Her: Kate Martin

Our life

Reese's Pov: 

We did it we are in the NCAA Tournament and we have been dominating so far. We have already played 5 games. The first one being Holy Cross which was ranked 16 we beat them 91:65. Then we beat West Virginia ranked 8, 64:54. The third one we have played was Colorado ranked 5, 89:68. Then we played LSU a number 3 team. This is one of the most anticipated games of the whole season. A rematch of the finale game last year. We beat them 94:87. Caitlin had a huge night that night with 41 points. And the last game we played was against UConn and it was a super close game but we pulled out on top after a tough moving screen call late in the game. 

Through out this whole season our team has been very connected and successful together. But I can't believe it. Tonight could be the last time we play together. This could be the last time I ever play with my sister, Lin. My girlfriend, Katie. And my best friend, Gabs. After playing with my sister since I was a 3 year old. This could be the last time I get to call her my teammate. 

But I can't think about that now. The game is in 30 minutes and we have already finished with our warm ups and Coach B is talking to us now. "Alright girls, we need to fight hard. They might think that since they won last year we are an easy target but we will fight to the end." She always knows what to say to hype up the team. But as all the girls scatter around the locker room she pulls me aside. "Reese, they do know you yet, they don't know how you play, you are our secret weapon." "Yes coach." Is all I let out before walking to my locker and sitting down. We played South Carolina  once this year but I was out that game because my knee was giving me problems so I haven't played against these players yet. Part of me is terrified but I can't be scared right now. 

Italics are the commentators 

Here we are ladies and gentleman the game we have all been waiting for! The championship game between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Iowa Hawkeyes. This is a big night. The final game for these seniors. I know this is going to be a long battle.

And as the final buzzer sounds the stadium erupts! 

Oh my gosh!

We did it! We won the championship!

Reese Pov: 

The second the game ends I run up to Kate and jump into her arms. "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Katie we did it we won!" And as I say those words she pulls me in for a kiss. Our whole team is around us cheering and laughing but it feels like it is just us. It is just me and Kate.

In the 2024 WNBA Draft Caitlin was picked by the Indiana Fever at number one. And Kate was picked by the Las Vegas Aces in round 2 at 6th. Even though it was tough we lasted long distance so I could finish my last year here at Iowa and we ended up in the final four again before UConn came out on top. And just a few weeks ago the 2025 WNBA Draft happened I was the Round 1 2nd pick just under Paige, she was picked by Indiana Fever. And somehow I was picked by the Las Vegas Aces. Kate and I now live together in her apartment in Vegas and she proposed to me on our 2 year anniversary. Life is great and it's all because of her healing me.

A/n: Thank you guys for all the support on this story. I know it's kinda a boring ending but I didn't want our girls to not have a good ending. I hope everyone enjoyed this story and I might make another one at some point. Thank you all! P.S: I know this is not how the championship went but I wanted my the girls to win. Let me live my dream.
