Reese's Pov:
After yesterday's crazy experience I fell asleep pretty quickly. Caitlin has told me to try and stay off of social media since she knows how "fans" will be. Which I have technically stuck to but I also haven't had the chance to just sit on my phone since my injury. Between being at the hospital with friends and some of the coaches. The girls had a practice today and I really wanted to go but it was too much work to get there and then just sit. I also knew that I would make me very sad to sit and watch the girls play when I physically couldn't.
I decided to turn on Stranger Things in the background while I worked on some school work. I ended up just scrolling on my phone after I finished my work. While I am scrolling I pass many post showing the video of when I was injured. Along with posts from fans sharing encouraging words and posts. But the main thing the I kept seeing and attempting to avoid was an article titled "From the Court to the Sidelines: Is Reese Clark's career over?" I finally decided to just read it and see how people are talking. Even through I know that Caitlin is right and I know I really shouldn't let them get into my head. But I decide to read it anyway.
From the Court to the Sidelines: Is Reese Clark's career over?
By: Anonymous Source
Just 3 days ago Caitlin Clark's sister Reese Clark faced a devastating injury to her right knee. A member of the Iowa Women's Coaching staff released information concerning her injury. A severely torn ACL along with a concussion. None of players on the Iowa Women's Basketball Team have shared any words on this subject including Reese Clark herself. Although multiple players have experienced injuries like this including Paige Bueckers, it was never this early into a season. How will this affect the team throughout this season, if at all?
Caitlin had previously spoken on the joining of her sister to the team stating. "My sister is a very determined athlete and has worked her butt off the get to this point in her career. I know she will only improve throughout this season and the many that she has in her future. I could not be happier and prouder of her both as a sister and a teammate." To the public eye many people believe that Caitlin Clark was boosting her sister's skills to make her seem like she was a better player.
Proving these people wrong. On the night of the game Reese Clark ended up playing a very impressive game with stats of 28 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and a block. Along with a starting position. It is safe to say that Reese was fighting throughout the game against her ex-teammate Brooke Williams. You can find our article linked here "Reese Clark verses Brooke Williams: A very competitive game" going into more depth on our feelings toward the game itself.
Some opposing players and coaches have commented and shared posts wishing Reese a speedy recovery and only the best. One of these players being Paige Bueckers. She commented at a press conference only last night saying "I know what it is like to suddenly loose something so important to you just like that. I can only wish her a quick recovery and offer her my prayers as she goes through this challenging time in her career."
The main question still stands. Is Reese Clark's career over after her first game? Since she hasn't spoken on the matter of her coming years as a player. We don't know what her plans are in this situation. We can only hope that she will do what she feels is best for her future. She was photographed leaving the hospital being carried by her teammate Kate Martin with her sister, Caitlin Clark along side them.
We can only wish Reese Clark a speedy recovery.
Reese's Pov:
After reading the article I feel a little better concerning how the public is viewing my status. But that quickly ends since I still see the negative comments saying things like "She was only using her sister publicity for her gain." , "She doesn't deserve the opportunity to play for such an amazing team." , "She deserves the injury for being an arrogant and selfish player." These really are starting to get to me. I mean maybe I do deserve this injury, I deserve this. I'm not worthy of playing for Iowa. Especially having started on my first game. Does Caitlin feel like I am using her for fame and money? These thoughts are racing through my mind.
