Kate's Pov:
Reese is sitting in my car, with my basketball hoodie draped over her lap, that has my last name on it. Now that I'm thinking about it "Martin" displayed across her back proudly doesn't sound too bad. It's like it would show she's mine. Not in a weird, possessive way, like I own her or anything but that everyone knows that she is mine. Like my responsibility to take care of, to comfort and to hold when the world feels like it's been turned upside down.
I shake my head trying to get those thoughts out of my mind. I can't be thinking like that especially about her. I continued driving to my apartment with the radio playing quietly in the background. When I look over at Reese I see that she has fallen asleep leaning against the window. I smile seeing her like this, so calm, her face still in relaxation. After seeing her like this I know that I want her to be this calm, always. And I will do anything in my power to make that happen. No matter what.
I pull up to Caitlin and I's dorm and put my car in park. I look over to see that Reese has now snuggled up to my hoodie and while still being asleep. I get of the car and walk over to the passenger side, I open the door and decided to just carry Reese inside. I really don't want to wake her up yet, she looks so cute. I put both of our bags on my shoulders and carefully pick her up bridal style.
Once I get inside out dorm I walk to my room and gently set her on my bed, while I go grab an extra towel and I pick out a hoodie of mine that's too small for me and a pair of shorts. But just as I'm grabbing a drink in the kitchen I hear a ruckus coming from my room. I rush over to find Reese thrashing around while still being asleep. I think back to the conversation that me and Caitlin had about how loud noises and unexpected touch make her feel worse.
I kneel on the edge of the bed while softly saying, "Reese, Reese baby, wake up". But that didn't work, I try again saying "Reese baby it's okay, it's Kate, baby please, you're safe." Just as I finish my sentence she wakes up.
A/N: I'm sorry I left y'all on a cliffhanger but I wanted to split this up into 2 chapters.
