⚠️Guys this chapter is going to be really short. Sorry.⚠️
Y/N POV
Yeji? Yeji as 'Y'? Oh great, as if my day couldn't get any better. I stumbled back a bit, leaning on a pillar, like it was my last vestige of sanity. Yeji dusted off her pants like she was just coming off a light jog instead of, you know, getting kicked down like a soccer ball.
"Are-Are you ok?" I asked, trying not to sound too concerned that I may have gifted my sister a few broken ribs. If she was lucky, of course.
"I'm fine," she said, crossing her arms like she was the absolute picture of health. Typical Yeji, always making sure to look fabulous while being a human speed bump.
"Hyunjin's on his way here, along with the rest of the squ—" I started, but of course, Yeji decided it was the perfect moment to clamp her gloved hand over my mouth. Right after that, the unmistakable sound of a hammer being pulled back made me freeze. Honestly? The whole gun-at-my-head thing was almost boring at this point.
Yeji let go, and before I could take another breath, she spun me around like some sort of puppet. Guess who was holding the gun? Chaewon. Fantastic. Just what I needed in addition to brighten up my day- or evening.
"Hello, Y/N," she said, dripping with that delightful villain energy. I mean, can you get more cliché?
She turned to my sister, all casual-like. "You can join the others backstage."
Yeji nodded and casually picked up her bike, leaving me alone with Miss Gun-Toting Drama Queen. Not even a "good luck" or "see ya later". Rude. Typical sibling behavior; love and support doesn't exist when you're about to be taken hostage.
"So my sister was working for you. You two were not partners but you were her boss," I said calmly, because who needs panic when you can just embrace the absurdity?
Chaewon shrugged with all the nonchalance of someone ordering a coffee. "Believe whatever you want."
"Oh, I will," I huffed. "Because it's not like I've seen enough to know what's fishy here. You think I'm some clueless extra in your action movie?"
She nudged me with the gun like it was a light suggestion. "Walk. Keep walking and don't stop unless I tell you to."
"Sure thing, as long as I don't trip and fall into the next plot twist," I muttered, rolling my eyes. We exited the supermarket into the somewhat livelier atmosphere of the track, where the sound of bikes zooming past filled the air.
"Stop," she commanded, and naturally, I obeyed.
"Not another warehouse. What is up with you and warehouses?" I quipped, pushing the door open with just enough flair to ensure she knew I was not impressed.
Chaewon gave me a short scoff, clearly unamused. "Keep walking."
Wow, real original. Someone has a warehouse obsession. "A change of scenery would be nice, you know. What's next? A corporate conference room? Because I hear the coffee is terrible in those."
"Shut up, Y/N," Chaewon snapped, but I couldn't help it.
"Were you jealous that I could pull someone while you couldn't? I mean no offence to Minju, she's a cool person but still," I pressed.
"I said shut up," Chaewon retorted.
"Jealousy is such a weak emotion, Chaewon. Shouldn't you be focusing on more important things, like not pointing that gun at me? You're known in the school for being clumsy and the last thing you wanna do is to kill someone. Talk about a way to ruin your college applications."
She glared at me, and I could practically hear the gears grinding in her head. "You really think this is funny?"
"It's laugh-or-cry time, and I chose laughter," I shot back cheerfully. "Makes the whole hostage thing way more fun, don't you think? Like, where's the creativity? If you're going to kidnap someone, at least make it memorable."
"Enough!" Chaewon barked, clearly struggling to keep her cool.
"Oooh, look who's getting feisty! Got any other thrilling warehouse escapades planned?" I teased, gesturing around exaggeratedly. "Maybe a themed party? I hear 'Dreary Abduction' is trending."
"Shut it, Y/N," she growled, but I could see the cracks forming in her villain facade.
"Honestly, if you wanted an adventure, you could've just asked me to go to an escape room," I said with mock seriousness. "But no, here we are. Kidnapping 101 with Chaewon—bring your own snacks because it's not provided!"
Chaewon took several deep breaths the gun dropped to her side. I had one chance and one chance only. If I fucked this up, I'm as good as a chicken in the slaughterhouse. I tackled her to the ground and threw the gun away from both our reach.
"Cut the story and tell me why you've been targeting us, Chaewon," I growled, ready for a shocking twist or at least a half-hearted confession.
"Do you trust me to do something?" she asked suddenly, eyes serious.
I tilted my head to the side. "Um... No? Can't say I'd recommend it after this charming introduction."
"Shame," she replied, pulling on a black string that was barely visible in the dark.
My brain sent instructions to my body before I could control myself. I had Chaewon to the ground and in a chokehold, trying to look intimidating even though my whole life seemed like a bad sitcom. A sudden bang and pop surprised me for a second and I accidentally loosened my grip.
"Look... ahead," Chaewon choked out, gasping for the dramatic flair to pull this off.
I looked up and released my grip, and what did I see?
"Surprise!!" the entire group shouted in unison. Yeji was one of them, looking way too pleased with herself as if she wasn't the one being kicked down a few minutes ago by her own blood sister.
The warehouse now had banners tied to either side of the wall with the words 'Happy Birthday Hwang Y/N!' written on them, complete with balloons that probably had seen better days.
"Eh?" was all I could get out, genuinely shocked. I'd expect the blood and gore if this was a horror movie. Instead, I got a party. Talk about an unexpected plot twist.

I was not expecting this kind of ending but I mean it's kinda bad right? (explanation in the next chapter)
