As you fell to your knees in the throne room, you made an effort at bowing, letting your forehead touch the floor in an attempt to disguise the contempt of your face.
The floor was stone cold, much like the look on Belos' plated mask.
"Well, it seems the Titan was right. You return within twenty-one days, barely."You ran your fingers against the chipped tile and lifted your chin after his pathetic attempt at an introduction.
All he saw was the seemingly relived smile on your face.
Belos had become your saviour.
"Copper Commander, I'm so glad you're safe. I'm surprised how long it took for you to evade the Owl Lady's capture."The Emperor gripped the fabric covering his chest, feigning nerves.
"Please, never scare me like that again."That sick liar.
As you kept yourself quiet, the smile on your face refused to falter.
If you were stuck here, you were going to make it everyone's problem.
Especially Belos'.The Emperor looked to the left of you, into the eyes of Raine Whispers.
It was nice to see them in person. You'd heard what Eda had said.
"Terra, please take Raine Whispers to your greenhouse and follow the instructions I previously gave you."Then, just as quickly as Belos gave them his attention, Raine was whisked away into Terra Snapdragon's arms.
You felt your glossy eyes suddenly shift.
A gaze other than bliss crept onto your face.
"What are you doing to Raine."The words were blunt and demanded an answer.
The Emperor refused to acknowledge it."Hm..."
Your captor noticed how sudden your shift in demeanour was.Now that you were back, he had to put you to work in a way that would benefit him the most.
All he needed to do, was keep you loyal.
Quickly thinking of a use for you, Belos kept talking.
"I imagine you must be tired, you were found quite far away from The Owl house when Darius spotted you."If the bags under your eyes weren't a giveaway, the state you were left in after Darius caught you was.
A layer of thin purple dust covered most of your clothing after you were cast in solid abomination sludge.
A stray leaf fell out of your hair, with horrible timing.Darius looked at you, nerves visible on his face.
It wasn't a good look for him.
"Apologies for their... physical appearance, sir. They were intending on returning willingly, but since I was dealing with Raine and their cohort, I reacted much more aggressively than necessary."Belos fell quiet and turned to face the other coven head in the room.
"Is this true, Eberwolf?"Your nerves started to show too.
The last thing you did was return willingly.Eberwolf looked between the two of you. Their beady yellow eyes trying to read the thoughts in your head.
The fact that Darius wasn't alone was the reason you were here in the first place. You could feel your stomach churn like butter as you imagined the torture you were going to be put under for refusing to turn yourself in to the coven.
Your head bowed to the ground.Eberwolf turned back to Belos and let out a seemingly polite huff, while nodding their head.
The sickness swelled, then quietened out.
You weren't getting petrified just yet.
