It's has been an hour of this meeting and I'm bored. They're not talking about anything that retains to finance issues or options yet so I'm not interested. I watch Isiah take notes about design ideas and despite his passion for fashion this man is the straightest man I've ever been around. Our parents swore he was gay when he said he was a fashion designer. But his designs are quite masculine and his style is too. We're proud of him.
I yawned a little too loud and I caught the eye of Ms. Fallon. I wonder what her first name is. Yes I should know but I don't. Everyone addresses her as such and I don't want to accidentally slip up and call her by her first. She eyes me and I shrink back into my sit embarrassed that she caught me yawning the very first meeting I've been in.
Another 30 minutes go by and I start drifting off. When a kick to my shin jolts me up. I look to see who did it, thinking it was Isiah but he's not paying any attention to me I turn my head and see Crystal smirking. She points to the front of the room where a guy is speaking and Ms. Fallon is once again watching me. "Pay attention." She mouths.
I nod. And sit up. And act as if I'm taking notes just to keep my self busy.
"Thank you everyone for coming today. As always we'll meet back on Friday for the end of the week review. Have a good week." Ms. Fallon says dismissing everyone.
"You should drink some coffee before these meetings. Sleeping on the first day is not a good look. But it definitely was funny." Crystal says walking up to me as I wait for Isiah to get done packing his stuff.
"I'm glad I can be your source of entertainment. I'm here all week." I say joking back.
"Your cute. Here's my number." She hands me her card that has her personal cell on the back in pen. "Call me." She gets closer to my ear. "You really shouldn't listen to the gossip around here." She walks away.
I go to tuck the card in my suit pants pocket but it gets snatched by Isiah. "Hey!"
"What did I say?" He said holding up the card in between in his fingers.
I sigh and roll my eyes. "I'm an adult Isiah I can make my own choices. Therefore my own mistakes. If she's bad news I'll find out myself not because you told me she is. Now give it back." I lay out my hand.
He sighs hard but gives back the card reluctantly. "Don't say I told you so."
"Joiner?" Ms. Fallon calls.
"Yes?" Isiah and I say in unison. We chuckle.
"Oh god. That's weird. Isiah, can I speak with you please? Alex you're good to go. Try to stay up next time. Yeah?" She says with a smirk.
I nod and walk out of the room and head back to my office to finish going through everything. I make it back inside and sit in my chair. I look out the window. I can't believe this is my office. I work here. I'm gonna have meetings in here. And this view.
"It's nice isn't it?" Her voice rings through the room startling me once again.
"You don't knock do you?" I said sarcastically.
"It's my building. But I'm sorry for scaring you. You just seemed so in thought." Ms. Fallon said walking in and taking a seat across from desk. Her legs cross and the pencil skirt she has on rises up her thighs.
I swallow hard and look away. "Uh yeah. It is nice. Thank you." Her eyes raised in confusion. "For the job. It's an amazing opportunity. So thank you." I add.
She smirks. "Of course Alex. I don't doubt you'll be a great asset to this company. Isiah speaks highly of you. I wouldn't have taken a chance on you if he wasn't so confident in you. So it's him you should thank."
