Ariyah POV

The ride towards Jackson parents house, was quiet for the most part aside from him us telling what we've been up to. Jackson is a philanthropist who works with foster kids in the state of Texas, building schools and apartments strictly for those who age out of foster care and can't support themselves.

We arrive at their house and valet helps me out of the car. "Thank you." I say to the young boy. Jackson put his hand at the small of my back to help guide us to the house. We make it in and it's full of black and white attire.

"I swear they invite more and more people every year. I doubt they even know most of these people and yet spend all their money on these aside from actual things that matter then social status. Jackson says taking my coat and handing it to the stuardess.

"They are known to throw the most extravagant parties." I say taking a champagne glass for Jackson and I. "Smiles." I cheers him and we make our way to mingling with people.

"Ariyah!" Jackson's adoptive sister calls me. She's in high school now and is taller then me with green eyes, tan skin, and pure black straight hair. Jasmine is from India. Jackson parents adopted her when they went for a tour.

"Hey beautiful. Breaking hearts yet?" I ask teasing because she always said she'd never get a boyfriend.

"Eww no. Still very much disgusted by men." She says. I laugh.

"Ariyah?" I hear the tone of a condescending female voice.

"Mrs. Raine." I say with fake enthusiasm.

She sizes me up and down. "You look beautiful as always darling."

"Thank you ma'am. You look beautiful as well." She really does she's beautiful for her age of 57. Her greys lay flat on her shoulders, black full length dress that still hugs her curves, and black heels.

"Your parents tell me you are dating someone." She says as a statement rather than a question.

"Yes ma'am I am." I reply short not really wanting to talk about Alex with this judgemental ass woman.

She looks over my shoulder as if looking for someone. "And where is he?"

Bingo! "'She's' not here. I came with Jackson as always Mary." I reply with a smile.

Her nice facade drops and her face goes confused. "You're a lesbian?" She drops her voice into a whisper.

"Not that that's any of your concern or business but I choose not to label myself. I'm just happily in love with a woman in this part of my life and intend to stay in love with the same woman for the remainder of it." I say.

"Do your parents know about this?" She ask and my blood starts to boil.

"Is everything alright?" Jackson ask coming up behind me and handing me another glass of champagne. He's my friend but I still check it subtly.

"Yes everything is fine. I was just telling your mother about Alex." His face goes pale and looks at his mother who's face is scrunched in disgust.

"Mom is there a problem?" He asks.

She looks at him and her face softens. "No it's just I would never have thought she'd turn into a lesbian. I pictured you guys having children together and marrying each other." Just the thought of that made me want to puke.

"Excuse me." I say walking away. I hear Jackson calling me but I ignore him and walk towards the door but get stopped by my dad and mom just waking in.

"Hey sweetie. You look beautiful." My mother says.

"What's wrong?" My dads voice powers through me. "Did Jackson do something?" He asks looking for him.
