Monday
Ariyah wasn't joking when she said Mondays after vacation are busy. She got here earlier then usual to get a head start on work and meetings and I still haven't seen her except when she came to give me a kiss to tell me she won't be able to take me home and to catch Isiah before he leaves for the day.
I've had my fair share of meetings as well. To ensure we didn't over spend on things and where we did and get ready to discuss it next Monday since we won't be having a meeting today.
"Knock knock." I look up from my computer to see Isiah with a pizza box. "Delivery!"
"You are my hero. Have I ever told you that you are the best brother in the world?" I say opening the box and taking a slice. I moan when it hits my mouth.
"Hungry?" He laughs sitting down and taking a slice. "So Thanksgiving is this weekend." He says after we finish eating and talking about our day so far.
"Yeah I know. Mom said she expects us to bring our partners for it." I say going back to work.
His eye widen. "And Ariyah is ok with that?"
I shrug. "Why wouldn't she be? She wants to meet mom and the rest of the family."
"Alex you know 'she's' still close to mom since her mom and ours are still church friends." He says worried.
I honestly forgot all about her. "Yeah well I'm with Ariyah now Sai. I'm not worried about her. That was years ago."
He eyes me surprised but not fully convinced. "You know she'll be there. I'm just preparing you for that shit storm if you bring Ariyah." He says cleaning up our mess.
"When I bring her. It'll be fine. I'll just explain it to Ariyah before we get there and she'll understand."
He raises his eyebrow. "Yeah alright. See you after work. Malin told me they will be working late tonight." I nod and he walks out.
I exhale and rub my hands down my face. "Damn."
The whole week goes by the same as Monday. Barely seeing my girlfriend and meeting after meetings with investors and stockholders. By Wednesday everyone knew about Ariyahs and I relationship that the only break we had from work was from HR to discuss the nature of our relationship. We told the truth saying she had no idea who I was and we never met before my position and that it has no affect on our work lives. It went well so we show affection when we are near openly but we still don't overdo it.
Now it's Friday and everyone had the day off to prepare for thanksgiving weekend. I'm in my room packing while Malin, Ariyah and Isiah are in the living room waiting. I still haven't told Ariyah about 'her'. I just haven't had time to. But I will before thanksgiving dinner.
"Alright I'm ready." I say with my bag on my back walking into the living room.
"Finally!" Malin says. "I'm hungry and your moms food is calling my name all the way in Austin." We laugh and head to Ariyahs Jeep since it fits all of our bags.
We all get in the car with Isiah driving, me in the passenger seat and our girlfriends in the back talking. We're all listening to music and singing out of tune.
"Have you told her?" Isiah ask as the girls are sleep within the hour of the drive.
I sigh. "No we haven't exactly had the opportunity to talk about it."
"She does know you have an ex right? Like first of all firsts." Isiah pushes.
"No Isiah. Ok. I just," I look at my girlfriend and then back at the road. "My mind and heart has only been on that woman right there. I didn't find the need to tell her about 'her' until now and now I'm scared that I should have brought it up. But when's a good time to bring up an ex while you're talking to your current partner?" I say slight panicking.
