Third person's pov!

Abhay stood in the living room, feeling slightly daunted as he looked at Kriti. She was playing with her toys, babbling happily to herself. Vaiga had only been gone for an hour, and already Abhay felt the weight of responsibility pressing down on him.

He reminded himself that he could do this. After all, he had managed a few hours without Vaiga yesterday. Now it was just him and Kriti, and he was determined to handle everything on his own.

The first challenge of the day arrived when Kriti decided it was time to explore.

She crawled towards the couch, pulling herself up with surprising strength for someone so small. Abhay watched her, ready to intervene if needed. She reached for the remote control, her little fingers grasping at it eagerly.

"Kriti, no," Abhay said gently, trying to redirect her attention to a colourful toy nearby. But Kriti was determined. She grabbed the remote and started pressing buttons, changing the TV channels rapidly.

"Okay, okay, let's find something better to play with," Abhay said, prying the remote from her tiny grip.

He handed her a soft toy shaped like a bunny, hoping it would capture her interest. Kriti looked at the bunny, then back at the remote, and let out a frustrated cry when she realised that the new toy she liked had been taken away.

Abhay knelt down beside her, holding the bunny in front of her.

"Look, Kriti! It's a bunny! See the fluffy ears?" Abhay said, pulling the fluffy ears up and down.

Kriti's cries subsided as she tentatively reached out for the bunny. She examined it for a moment before giving it a tentative squeeze. Abhay let out a breath of relief as she began to play with the toy.

Just as he thought he had a handle on things, he noticed a familiar smell. Kriti had soiled her diaper. Abhay steeled himself, remembering Vaiga's instructions from the previous day. He fetched the diaper changing supplies and laid Kriti down on the changing mat. As soon as he unfastened the diaper, Kriti started squirming.

"No, no, stay still," Abhay muttered, trying to hold her in place. He somehow cleaned the squirming baby and brought her back to the changing mat.

When he tried to put on a new one, Kriti kicked her legs, nearly knocking the clean diaper out of his hands. Abhay managed to clean her up, but the moment he tried to put on the fresh diaper, she rolled over and attempted to crawl away.

"Kriti, come on," Abhay pleaded, gently turning her back. But she kept rolling away and when Abhay reaches her and takes the diaper towards her, she rolls away again. She found it a funny game.

"God! You are such a handful one.." He muttered softly and she giggled seeing the grumpy look on his face. He worked quickly, fastening the new diaper in place before she could escape again.

He let out a sigh of relief, feeling as though he had just won a small battle.

With the diaper change done, Abhay decided it was time for a snack. He remembered Vaiga's instructions about the cut strawberries. He took them out of the fridge and placed them in front of Kriti. She looked at the strawberries with interest, reaching out to grab a piece.

Just as Abhay felt a sense of accomplishment, Kriti began to squeeze the strawberry, juice dripping onto her clothes and the floor. She brought it to her mouth but ended up spitting most of it out, creating an even bigger mess. Abhay watched in dismay as she smeared the strawberry all over her face and hands.

He remembered Vaiga's words then. She will spit out most of it, but let her have it all. So he watched patiently as Kriti made a complete mess of herself, the strawberries and her surroundings.

"Alright, let's clean you up," Abhay said, grabbing a wet wipe. He gently wiped her hands and face, trying to make the process as quick and painless as possible.

Kriti squirmed and giggled, finding the whole situation amusing.

Next came playtime. Abhay set up the playpen and placed Kriti inside with a few toys. He hoped she would be content for a while, allowing him to catch up on some work. He sat down at the dining table, opening his laptop and trying to focus on the documents in front of him.

But every few minutes, his attention drifted back to Kriti. She was busy playing with her toys, occasionally looking up at him and babbling something incomprehensible.

Abhay found it hard to concentrate. His mind kept wandering back to Vaiga and Kriti, and how natural Vaiga seemed in handling everything. He felt a pang of admiration for her. It was only midday, and he was already exhausted.

Just as he thought he might get a few uninterrupted minutes, Kriti began to cry. Abhay rushed to her side, picking her up and trying to soothe her. He rocked her gently, humming a lullaby he remembered his mother singing. Kriti calmed down slightly but continued to fuss, her little hands grabbing at his shirt.

"Is it time for lunch already?" He asked in horror, looking at the wall clock. How fast does time fly?

Abhay sat in the dining room, watching Kriti in her high chair with a mix of trepidation and determination.

Now came the challenging part: feeding her.

Kriti, however, had other ideas. Her attention flitted from one thing to another, from the colourful fruit basket on the dining table to the sunlight streaming through the window.

Every time Abhay tried to get a spoonful of food into her mouth, she turned her head away, babbling in her baby language, her little hands reaching out for everything except the food.

"Come on, Kriti, just a little bit," Abhay coaxed, but Kriti was having none of it. She slapped the spoon away, giggling at the mess she made.

Abhay sighed, his patience wearing thin. He had hoped the morning's challenges were over after the diaper change fiasco, where Kriti had wiggled so much that he ended up using three cloth diapers before finally getting it right.

Now, as he faced the ordeal of feeding her, he felt a wave of frustration mixed with helplessness.

"What am I going to do with you now?" Abhay asked helplessly and his eyes widened in horror as Kriti pulled on the table mat forcefully and the bowl in which Kriti's food was there, fell down..

"Damn it.."
