Third person's pov!
"How does staying in a room with my wife become immoral traffic?" Abhay's booming voice echoed across the walls of the room, leaving everyone startled, including Vaiga..
My wife! Those words echoed in her head again and again..
"Wife? Seriously? I have heard more interesting stories than this while catching immoral people like you.." A police officer said sarcastically, as he looked Vaiga up and down, his eagle eyes taking time as he took in the satin soft waist exposed through her saree.
Abhay clenched his teeth seeing the lusty eyes of the police officer on Vaiga. On an impulse, he took the pallu of the saree and wrapped it around her like a protective blanket.
The police officer got startled at that move and looked at Abhay and cowed a bit seeing Abhay's burning eyes on him.
"Arrest them.." The police officer ordered his subordinates, ignoring the furious glares coming his way.
"On what basis?" Abhay asked defiantly.
"I am not interested in hearing your drama, Mr Agnihotri. You are getting arrested for immoral traffic.." The police officer said.
"The circle inspector is a close family friend of the Gowdas." Shravan whispered in his ears.
"Well, you must go back and tell Gowda that his plan is an utter flop, since he locked me inside a room with my legally wedded wife.." Abhay said sarcastically, as he saw Mithran walking towards the room with a smirk on his face, as he waved the envelope in his hands.
Abhay knew it was the forged marriage certificate he got with his father's friend's help.
The police officer got startled hearing the Gowdas name. He didn't expect them to figure out that he was close to the Gowdas.
"Quit with your drama, Mr Agnihotri. We clearly know that she isn't your wife.." The police officer said. The media were still clicking away, much to his frustration.
"Don't worry. No reporter would walk out of SM property with their cameras. I have made arrangements for it." Shravan again whispered and Abhay breathed a sigh of relief.
"Then you should take a good look at the mangalsutra adorning my wife's neck.." Abhay said as he slipped in a finger and raised the mangalsutra up to show the onlookers, without letting them see Vaiga once again.
The police officer laughed.
"Is that your proof?" He asked sarcastically.
"Well, I don't walk around carrying the marriage certificate in my pocket, officer. I guess nobody does." Abhay said with a casual shrug and looked at Mithran.
"Ah, don't worry, Abhay. Since our duty abiding officer is very keen on seeing your marriage certificate, I had it brought here from your house.." Mithran said with a smirk as he extended the envelope towards Abhay.
Abhay took the stamp papers from the envelope and opened it. His eyes went through their names.
Abhay Dev Agnihotri! Vaiga Raghuswamy!
"Here, take a clear look.." Abhay said, handing over the marriage certificate to the officer.
The officer's eyes widened in horror seeing the marriage certificate.
Everything was well planned, until the last moment when the girl arranged for this backed out. They were about to call off the plan when the bellboy they had hired called and informed that he got another girl. They didn't care who the girl was. She was simply collateral damage in their eyes. So they had given the go ahead.
But how did this girl turn out to be his wife? Why was nobody aware of Abhay Dev Agnihotri's marriage? He looked through the certificate and noted the date in it. The certificate says that this was the third day of marriage.
"You want me to believe that Abhay Dev Agnihotri, the gaming king, got married and nobody was aware of it?" The police officer asked sarcastically as a last resort.
"Everyone is aware that Abhay was a widower. And Vaiga was a divorcee. This is their second marriage and they both were adamant on having a very small function with only the immediate family in attendance.." It was Niranjan who spoke. He was silent until now, watching the drama unfold.
The police officer, with a defeated look, forwarded the envelope back to Abahy.
"One second. Show it to the media people you brought, officer. Let them also see the truth." Siddhu quipped in and snatched the marriage certificate from Abhay and showed it to the media personnels. The cameras clicked away once again.
"Wish you were this sincere when it comes to rape cases, abuse and domestic violences too." Mithran said sarcastically and the police officer shot a furious look his way, but Mithran simply scoffed.
"Now you may leave, officer." Shravan said, pointing towards the door and he shot an angry glare at them before briskly walking out.
"Do you all need a special 'get out' to leave?" Mithran asked, looking at the paparazzi and they scrambled out quickly.
Once everyone left, Abhay made Vaiga sit on the couch. He could still feel her shivering in his arms. He felt sorry for what she had to go through. This was a trap for him and she fell prey for it.
He kneeled in front of her and took her arms in his. He could feel her fingers trembling, so he held it tightly between his.
"I am sorry, Vaiga. I am sorry you had to go through this." Abhay said and everyone looked at him in surprise.
From the very first day, he had made it clear that he disliked her presence in his house. Niranjan was worried that he would blame Vaiga for what happened today. But Abhay's response surprised him. Then he smiled, realising that the values and culture they instilled in their son is talking now. As Abahy made it clear multiple times, he had no personal issues with Vaiga. His only problem was her growing attachment to Kriti.
"Vaiga, look at me.." Abhay called again and Abhay sucked in a sharp breath seeing the anguish in her eyes. Her eyes were red and puffy and there was an ocean of pain in it.
Was it because of what happened today? For some reason, Abhay knew this was not the only cause. There was something else that was causing her pain.
Abhay watched in horror as her eyes rolled back..
"I didn't do anything, Shiva.." That was the last thing she said before falling into Abhay's arms.
"Damn!!"
