Third person's pov!
Abhay's car drove into the driveway of their house and he was practically running into the house. He was on his way to her college when his mother called and informed that Vaiga had come home. But she was looking so dishevelled and she wasn't saying anything.
As soon as she reached, she had taken Kriti and locked them in their bedroom. She wasn't opening the door no matter how many times Anjana called.
"Abhi, what happened to my child? She looked so scared." Anjana cried as Abhay reached in front of the bedroom.
"I don't know, Maa. It has got something to do with Durga Devi. That woman visited Vaiga in college. God knows what she told Vaiga." Abhay said and tried turning the handle to open the door.
"It is locked.." Anjana cried.
"Vaiga.. Vaiga.. Open the door, Vaiga." Abhay pounded on the door like a crazy man. His heart wouldn't calm down until he saw her.
Siddhu came running up the stairs.
"Bhai, the balcony door of your bedroom is open. I saw it from the garden." Siddhu said breathlessly.
"Oh thank goodness. I forgot to close it after watering the plants on your balcony." Anjana said in relief and Abhay was already running down the stairs.
As he reached the garden, he frantically looked around for a ladder, but couldn't find any.
His eyes then fell on the drainpipe near the balcony. During his college days, he and Mithran had pulled many mischievous stunts, including sneaking into the college building at night to vandalise the principal's cabin. That skill has come in handy now.
Abhay quickly grabbed the pipe and began climbing. The rough surface scraped his palms, but he didn't care. His heart pounded with adrenaline and worry. He pulled himself up and swung over the railing, landing in the balcony with a soft thud. Without wasting a moment, he rushed inside the room.
He found Vaiga and Kriti on the bed. Kriti was asleep, and Vaiga was rocking her in her arms, sitting on the bed, but her mind was somewhere far away, and tears were running down her cheeks. Abhay's heart clenched seeing her like that. He quickly unlocked the bedroom door and told Anjana and Siddhu that she was safe. Anjana sighed in relief.
Abhay went towards Vaiga and gently took baby Kriti from her. Vaiga got startled when the baby was taken from her.
"Relax, it's me," Abhay said softly and went to his mother to hand over Kriti to her. Then he locked the bedroom door, came to Vaiga, and pulled her into his arms.
"What did that woman say?" Abhay asked as he held her tight in his arms.
Vaiga's sobs became louder, and she clutched tightly onto the lapels of his shirt. Abhay couldn't bear her cries. It was breaking his heart, and he so badly wanted to break that woman's head now.
"Don't cry, Vaiga. It's not good to cry in this condition. Neither for you nor for our baby," Abhay said, and Vaiga tried to compose herself for the sake of her baby. One emotional trauma had killed her baby once. She couldn't even imagine a repetition of it.
"She wants me to go to Thanjavur with her..." Vaiga began to speak and then told him all about Durga Devi's threats.
Abhay's blood boiled, his eyes turning red in fury. His hold tightened on her.
