Third person's pov!
The tension in the air was palpable as Vaiga was wheeled into the labour room. Her cries of pain echoed down the hallway, each one piercing Abhay's heart like a dagger. He walked beside the gurney, holding her hand tightly, his eyes filled with worry.
"Vaiga, you are doing great. Just hang in there," Abhay whispered, trying to keep his voice steady despite the storm of emotions raging inside him.
Vaiga's face contorted with another wave of pain, her grip on Abhay's hand tightening.
"I can't, Dev ji! It hurts so much!" She cried, tears streaming down her face.
"I know, baby, I know. But you're strong. You're the strongest person I know," he replied, his voice breaking.
As they reached the labour room, the nurse gently but firmly separated Abhay from Vaiga, instructing him to wait outside. Abhay watched helplessly as the doors closed behind her, feeling as though a part of his soul had been torn away.
He began to pace in front of the labour room, his anxiety growing with each passing second. Mithran, observing his friend's distress, couldn't help but try to lighten the mood.
"The way he is acting, it looks as if he's going through the labour pain, not Vaiga," Mithran quipped, a small smile playing on his lips. Abhay shot him a glare.
"I will say the same when your time comes," he retorted harshly, his fear for Vaiga evident in his voice. He couldn't bear the thought of losing her. In such a short span of time, she had managed to own his heart completely. He wouldn't have it any other way.
Raghu Swamy, standing nearby, was also battling his own demons. He remembered a day twenty-three years ago when Vidya had been taken into the labour room, and he had waited outside, anxious and excited. But only baby Vaiga had come out of that labour room alive. His Vidya hadn't. He had devoted his life to his baby girl since then, and now, his baby was going to give birth.
Niranjan placed a reassuring hand on Raghu's shoulder.
"Relax. Everything will be fine," he said, trying to console him.
A nurse emerged from the labour room, scanning the anxious faces.
"Who is Dev?" She asked.
"I am Dev. How is Vaiga? Is she alright?" Abhay asked, panic lacing his voice.
"She wants you there. She is crying for you. Please come in," the nurse instructed.
Abhay hurriedly followed the nurse, following all the necessary protocols and donning the scrub and head cap before entering the labour room. The sight of Vaiga in pain tore at his heart. She was sweating, her face flushed, and she cried out in agony.
"Ahh...!" Vaiga screamed.
"Vaiga, baby," Abhay said, his voice choking with emotion as he held her hand. His eyes filled with tears, matching hers. "I am here. I am right here."
The doctor overseeing the delivery was calm and composed.
"Vaiga, you are doing great. I need you to push with the next contraction, okay?" The doctor said.
"I can't... I can't..." Vaiga panted, her face a mask of pain and exhaustion.
"Yes, you can," Abhay whispered, squeezing her hand. "You can do this, Vaiga."
"Take a deep breath and push. I can see the head. You are almost there." The doctor continued.
Vaiga screamed again, her entire body straining with the effort. Abhay felt helpless, his heart breaking as he watched her suffer.
"Come on, Vaiga. Just a little more," he encouraged, his voice filled with love and desperation.
"That's it, Vaiga. You are doing amazing. One more big push," the doctor instructed.
With a final, gut-wrenching scream, Vaiga gave one last push. The room was suddenly filled with the cries of a newborn baby. Abhay's heart soared as he saw their baby for the first time.
"It's a boy!" The doctor declared.
"He's here! " Abhay exclaimed, tears streaming down his face. He leaned down and kissed Vaiga's forehead, overwhelmed with love and relief. "You did it, Vaiga. You did it."
Vaiga, exhausted and in pain, looked up at Abhay with tears of joy in her eyes. The doctor placed the baby boy on Vaiga's chest, and she cradled him tenderly. Abhay wrapped his arms around them both, his heart overflowing with love

Baby Vidyut Dev Agnihotri was born, weighing three kilograms plus a hundred grams, and shrieking with the finest set of lungs to ever debut at Amrita Hospital, Bangalore. It had been a long day filled with excitement, nerves, joy, and pain. Abhay had finally felt relieved after nine months of tension and worry.
Vaiga had been shifted to a private room, her face glowing with the happiness and exhaustion of new motherhood. It was time for the baby's feed. A nurse entered the room, her demeanour calm and professional, as she gently helped Vaiga up to sit on the recliner bed.
"Okay, Mrs. Agnihotri, let's get you comfortable," the nurse said, adjusting the bed and arranging pillows behind Vaiga's back. She then carefully handed baby Vidyut to Vaiga. "Now, let's see if we can get him to latch on."
Vaiga cradled Vidyut in her arms, looking down at her newborn with a mix of wonder and nervousness. The nurse guided her through the procedures, showing her how to position Vidyut and encouraging her to be patient. It took a while for the baby to latch on, but once he did, he began suckling eagerly.
Abhay, Anjana, and baby Kriti were also present in the room. Kriti sat in Abhay's arms, her big eyes curiously observing the new baby. As she watched her mother cuddling Vidyut, her lips jutted out, and she whimpered softly, feeling the pang of baby jealousy.
Vaiga noticed Kriti's reaction, and her heart ached. Her eyes filled with tears as she thought about how Kriti had never had the fortune to have her mother's milk just like her. Once Vidyut was fed and asleep, Anjana took him gently from Vaiga and laid him in the baby cot.
"Give her to me," Vaiga said softly, raising her arms for Kriti. Kriti swayed in Abhay's arms, reaching eagerly for her mother.
Vaiga picked Kriti up, kissing her all over her face.
"My baby," she murmured and gently guided baby Kriti to her bosom. Kriti looked confused at first, not understanding what her mother was doing.
"Mmaaa..." Kriti babbled, her eyes wide and uncertain.
With gentle coaxing, Vaiga guided Kriti's mouth to her breast. At first, Kriti was hesitant, but with a little more encouragement, she started suckling. For the very first time in her life, Kriti received the nourishment she had missed as an infant.
Anjana and Abhay stood transfixed, watching this poignant moment unfold. Abhay felt a surge of overwhelming emotion. His eyes filled with tears as he saw Vaiga breastfeeding baby Kriti. It was a moment of healing, of love, and of completion for their family.
Abhay walked over to Vaiga and gently kissed her on the forehead.
"You are my world, Vaiga," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion.
