Third person's pov!

Another couple of months passed by quickly. Vaiga was having a smooth pregnancy so far. But Abhay was becoming more and more paranoid as each day passed by. He calls her every hour even when she is in college, just to be sure that she is alright.

"Bhabhi, did you eat the snacks? Bhai is asking.." Laya said, reading the message on her phone.

"I just told him I did.." Vaiga said in annoyance. Even if she assured him, he would still ask Laya to confirm.

"He is scared.." Laya said with a soft smile.

"I know. That is the only reason why I haven't given him rat poison yet. Else, with the way he annoys me, I would have murdered him long ago." Vaiga muttered under her breath.

"Come on. You love it when he takes care of you like that." Laya said with a teasing smile and Vaiga blushed slightly.

"Oh god! You are pregnant and you still blush when bhai's name is taken." Laya teased.

"Shut up. Ma'am is coming." Vaiga said, pointing at the professor who just walked in. Their new economics professor. After that cultural event night, Shiva hadn't returned to the college, much to Vaiga's relief.

The class settled into a studious silence as the professor began her lecture. Vaiga tried to focus on the lesson, but her mind wandered. The sound of the professor's voice became background noise to the myriad thoughts swirling in her head. Just then, a peon entered the room, causing the professor to pause mid-sentence.

"Vaiga Raghuswamy has a visitor," the peon announced.

Vaiga frowned and looked at Laya.

"Who is visiting you here?" Laya asked.

"I don't know. I will go and see," Vaiga said.

"I will also come with you," Laya said.

"No, no. Stay here. The classes are going on. I will come back quickly," Vaiga insisted.

"Keep your phone with you," Laya said, and Vaiga took her phone and walked out of the classroom, wondering who had come to visit her, especially at college.

As Vaiga stepped into the visitor's lounge, her eyes widened in horror upon seeing Durga Devi sitting there.

"Vaiga..." Durga Devi called out in her usual haughty tone.

"What do you want?" Vaiga asked, her heart hammering against her chest.

Durga Devi looked at Vaiga, and the happiness on her face made Durga furious. She looked at Vaiga's slightly bulging tummy in disgust. How could this girl be happy when her son's life was in shambles? Durga Devi's memory went back to that day a few months ago.

Shiva had walked into the house, drenched in rain.

"Shiva, you came back. I knew you would come back to your Amma. I know you can't stay without me..." Durga Devi cried as she rushed to her son.

Shiva stepped back before she could touch him and looked at her with accusing eyes.

"Was your ego more important than my child?" Shiva asked, his voice a broken whisper. Durga Devi sucked in a sharp breath. She had thought he would never find out.

"You killed my child. Your cruelty killed my child. No... No. Why should I blame you when I am the sole reason for it all? I am a father who killed his own child. You made me into a murderer," Shiva said.

"Shiva, she is lying. She is trying to create misunderstandings between us," Durga Devi argued.

"Aren't you tired of these schemes? Don't stress over it. I am never getting her back. Do you know why? Because she is married to a man now. A man who stands by her no matter what," Shiva said, and Durga Devi's eyes widened in horror. The thought that Vaiga was happy somewhere made her furious.

"Do you know? She is doing her post-graduation now. Education that you and I denied her. There was a cultural event at the college, and Vaiga performed classical dance on stage. Another thing you and I denied her. Her passion. In your misguided attempts to give me a better life, you gave Vaiga a life where she is happy. Happy in a way I have never seen her," Shiva said in self disgust.

"I lost her... I lost her forever. She loves him..." Shiva murmured like a deranged man.

Ever since that day, Shiva had locked himself in a room, never coming out. Never speaking to anyone. And it was starting to scare Durga Devi. If bringing Vaiga back into her son's life was the only solution, she was ready even for that.

"I want you to come back to Thanjavur with me," Durga Devi came straight to the point, without beating around the bush.

"What?" Vaiga asked, totally clueless.

"My son needs you. It is your duty to stand by him when he needs you," Durga Devi said, and Vaiga looked at her in disbelief. This woman was a total psycho.

"Duty? My duties to you and your family were over the moment I was granted the divorce from your son," Vaiga said coldly, and Durga Devi couldn't believe this was the same meek woman who used to be a slave for her not many months ago.

"How dare you speak to me like that?" Durga Devi raised her voice.

"I have no interest in speaking to you at all. Please leave," Vaiga said in an exasperated tone. What could she do to get rid of this woman for good?

"Have a look at this and then speak..." Durga Devi said with a smirk and handed over her phone to Vaiga.

Vaiga looked at the phone screen, and all the blood drained from her face seeing the pictures. They were taken on that fateful day, showing her and that man in a compromising position. Abhay had told her about the existence of these pictures once, but everyone had forgotten about it.

"If you don't come with me, these pictures will go viral on the internet. Your reputation will be in tatters. Along with yours, it would affect your current husband's family reputation too," Durga Devi said with a smirk, and Vaiga wondered how much lower this woman could fall.

"Two days. You have two days. On the third day, this will be all over the internet," Durga Devi said in a warning tone and walked out, leaving Vaiga shattered.

Abhay was in his office when he received a call from Laya. Since Laya doesn't call usually during the college time, Abhay panicked, fearing that something has happened to Vaiga.

"What is it? Vaiga is alright, right?" Abhay asked, as soon as he picked up the call.

"Bhai, bhabhi had a visitor and she was called out of the class. She didn't return even when the class got over, so I went to the visitor's lounge to check. But she isn't there. I tried her phone, but she isn't picking up the call. I am scared, bhai." Laya cried through the phone and all blood drained from his face.

"Who visited her?" Abhay asked, as he scrambled up from his chair and rushed out of his cabin, every step feeling heavy.

"I don't know, bhai." Laya cried.

"Go check with the officials. Quick." Abhay demanded. Siddhu, who saw his brother running out in panic, followed him in a hurry.

As Abhay got into the car, Siddhu hurriedly got into the passenger seat.

"What happened, bhai?" Siddhu asked anxiously and Abhay quickly told him what happened.

He could hear Laya speaking to someone on the other side.

"Bhai.." Laya's scared cry filled his head with terror.

"What is it?" Abhay asked in dread.

"Durga Devi. That's the visitor's name. It's that woman right? Bhabhi's ex mother in law. I am scared, bhai." Laya cried in fear.

Abhay felt his heart stopping for a moment. Panic clutched him wondering if Durga Devi had harmed her in any way.

'Oh Vaiga!'
