WE WILL BE TRANSPORTING YOU TO HEADQUARTERS.

— I perked up at the sound of Mina-san’s voice, my smile not faltering.

“Mina-san, hello!” I greeted her, yet she only stared at me and nodded. That must’ve took a lot of courage, she has to act as cold as possible since me and Kafka-san are basically prisoners right now.

I walked quietly as she led us out, eyeing Kafka-san who looked glum. I tried cheering him up earlier, but he would just tiredly smile at me. Once we were out to hop on the truck, i stopped when i heard Reno speak.

“Hibino, i have faith that you’ll come back.” he addressed to Kafka-san first.

“And you definitely have to come back, Guinne.” he mumbled, voice quiet yet hearable.

I looked back at him, sending a toothy grin over his way and nodding.

“I will. I swear.” After responding, i hopped in and the doors closed. Kafka-san looked confused at what Ichikawa had said and wanted to call him, but Mina-san spoke.

She sent a few encouraging words to Kafka-san and me, and i would just smile at her words.

When we sat, Kafka-san spoke with tears streaming down his eyes. Seeing this scene in real life truly is satisfying, i remember bawling my eyes since i was so touched.

Once Mina-san was done with her speaking, the three of us sat in silence. It was broken when Kafka-san nudged me and talked to me in a quiet voice.

“I didn’t know you were the same as me.” he whispered.

“You never asked.” i shrugged.

“Who would randomly ask someone if they’re a kaiju?” he questioned.

“Point taken. Still not my fault.” I hummed.

It was a relief Mina-san let the two of us chat on the way. She probably figured it was difficult for the both of us to talk back there since anything we say might be used against us.

So me and Kafka-san chatted until we reached our destination. They had Kafka-san restrained in a seat placed in the middle of the vast space while i was told to wait and surrounded by the first division officers.

Chief Shinomiya entered the room, me and the rest of the officers following suit. I can’t believe how careless they are by simply attaching these binders on my neck, hands, some cuffs that would electrify me if i take them off in each of my legs, some electronic belt that is capable of paralyzing even kaijus on my waist, and this weird cap in my head.

I can break free from all of these if i wanted to. A very basic task. I was observing their interaction closely, waiting for the moment i’ll step in.

Even though i know Kafka-san will be able to deal with this by himself in the end, i still have to do my best to minimize the damage on Chief Shinomiya’s body. He’s old.

He’s being controlled.” Ashiri commented.

Right now, [Y/N].” She gave me the signal, and on cue, i stepped one foot forward and sparks of light engulfed my body.

The officers close by me were startled, yet regained their composure quickly and began to point their weapons at me.

“Cease! ” They demanded, but i paid them no heed.

“Halt or we will fire!” Another warning, and i felt electricity flow within my whole body. It came from the belt.

Still, that wasn’t enough to harm my current body. As Guinne said, my body has began to adapt at ‘talent’ my soul has. Therefore it is capable of wielding a portion of Ashiri’s otherworldly powers along with her kaiju ones.

A strength beyond human control.

“Hibino Kafka.” I called, fully transforming as the restraints put on me were destroyed during the process.

“Wake up.” I demanded, moving towards him in godly speed, successfully reaching the space between him and the chief.

I raised my hand and in one swift motion, his body flew away from us without even coming in contact with me.

“I know it is difficult to trust us.” I began speaking, keeping my eyes on Kafka who stood up, roaring at my direction.

“But i swear upon my soul that we are on humanity’s side.” I turned around, cancelling my transformation.

Chief Shinomiya was baffled at my de-transformation, reaching out as i felt a presence behind me that emitted murderous intent.

“I am not the twelfth Daikaiju, and he is not Kaiju no. 8.” I smiled, pointing at my back.

Yet it was gone as soon as it came.

“I’m Yoshioka Aguinne.” I added, closing my eyes.

And i’m Hibino Kafka!
