We won the T20 World Cup! I am so, so happy! But at the same time, I feel sad for South Africa-they could have won their first cup. I also cried out of happiness for the team, but also out of sadness when Virat said it's his last T20 World Cup.
Sam's POV:I really like Adhi's house and his family; they're fun and nice. I'm getting ready to go out, and I really want to see him! It might be silly, but I have an idea. I tutor a kid in my apartment complex, so I asked him to go there today. I know what time his session ends, so I'll surprise Adhi. He doesn't know I'm coming.
We ride the elevator up in a comfortable silence, stealing glances at each other and smiling like fools. We get out of the lift and walk to the park. We sit down and talk about all the weird stuff that happened during the past few days, but I don't think anything can top the body switch.
Soon, his expression changes to seriousness, and he asks, "How long do you think we should be like this? When are we going to switch back? What are we gonna do? What if we don't switch back!?"
I take a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "I don't know, Adhi. I wish I had answers. This whole situation is beyond anything I could have imagined. But I believe we'll figure it out. We have to."
He nods, looking a bit reassured but still worried. "I just can't shake the feeling that something bigger is at play here. What if we're stuck like this forever?"
I reach out and place a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, we'll get through this together. No matter what happens, we have each other's backs. And who knows? Maybe we'll find a way back sooner than we think."
Adhi's tense shoulders relax a little, and he gives me a small smile. "You're right. We just have to stay positive and keep trying."
We sit in silence for a moment, watching the children play in the park. The sounds of laughter and joy seem to momentarily lift the weight off our shoulders.
"So, what's next?" he asks, breaking the silence."Well, I think we should keep looking for answers, maybe do some research on body switches. There has to be something out there," I suggest.
"Agreed. And in the meantime, we'll just have to continue living each other's lives as best as we can," Adhi says, determination evident in his voice.
I nod, feeling a renewed sense of hope. "We'll figure this out, Adhi. I promise."
"I guess living in a beautiful body for a few more days won't be bad!" he whispers near my ear. I blush internally, chuckle, and push him slightly. We laugh and get up.
"Yeah, maybe I will get used to being famous!" I groan, remembering that I have to hide.
"Yeah...you will have to get used to it," he giggles.
As we walk back to his apartment, the weight of uncertainty still lingers, but knowing we're in this together makes it a little easier to bear.
As soon as we reach the lift to his apartment, he stands on his toes and kisses my cheek. That's when I notice how short my body is next to him, and he says, "Bye, love! See you later!"
I freeze at the kiss and the nickname. After a minute, I come back to earth, walk back to my car, and drive back home.
When I get back home, I open the door to find Laks lounging on the couch, flipping through a magazine. She looks up as I walk in, and a mischievous grin spreads across her face.
"Well, well, look who decided to show up," she says, putting down the magazine and standing up. "You look like you've just seen a ghost. Or... maybe a lover?" She wiggles her eyebrows suggestively.
I roll my eyes but can't help blushing. "It's nothing like that, Laks."
"Oh, come on! I saw that dreamy look on your face. Spill the beans!" She walks over and nudges me playfully.
I sigh, trying to downplay the situation. "It's just... I went to surprise someone."
Laks's eyes widen with excitement. "Someone special, I bet! Who is it? Do I know them?"
I hesitate, unsure of how much to reveal.
"Well, it's complicated. You wouldn't understand."
"Try me," she says, crossing her arms and leaning against the wall, clearly not willing to let this go.
I finally give in and smile. "Alright, fine. I went to see someone who is a friend!"
"Yeah, sure, friend!" She makes air quotes with her fingers.
I shake my head and head to my room, hearing her laugh behind me. As I close the door, I can't help but smile. Laks always knows how to make me feel at home, no matter how crazy things get.
I close the door behind me and lean against it, letting out a deep breath. Meeting Adhi had been intense, and Laks's teasing only added to the whirlwind of emotions I was feeling. I walk over to the bed and flop down, staring at the ceiling, replaying the day's events in my mind.
A few minutes later, there's a knock on the door. "Hey, you okay in there?" Laks's voice calls out.
I sit up and open the door, giving her a small smile. "Yeah, I'm alright! Thanks!"
Anytime, bro," she says with a smile. "Now, how about we order some pizza and watch a movie? You look like you could use a break."
I laugh, grateful for her presence. "That sounds perfect."
We head to the living room, and as we settle in with our pizza and movie, I can't help but feel hopeful. With friends like Laks and Adhi, maybe everything will turn out okay after all.
