Adhi's POV:

It's been two weeks since Sam's visit. The semester exams are over, and I think I did fine, I guess?! Right now, I'm planning to visit Sam since my family goes to a temple in our native place every week on Sunday. To get out of the house, I need Nitya's help. Sam's parents are very strict; they won't let me go alone, and they can't know that their daughter is going to a guy's house! Luckily, Nitya lives near my house, and I found that out a few days ago. So, I tell Sam's parents that I'm going to Nitya's house tomorrow. They agree easily. We all have that one friend our parents will just let us go anywhere with, don't we?

The next morning, I make my way to Nitya's place. She's waiting outside, her usual cheerful self.

"Where are we going?" she asks, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Surprise!" I say as she gets on my bike and I drive her to my house.

"Whose house is this, Sam?" she looks at me, confused, and I again simply say, "Surprise."

I ring the bell and look at Nitya, who stands behind me curiously. After a few minutes, Sam opens the door and stares at me and then at Nitya, wide-eyed. "OMG, Adithya Krishnamurthi?" squeals Nitya.

Sam's still too stunned and confused to talk, maybe thinking if I told Nitya about the body switch. "Adhi! You gonna let us in?" I ask her, and she comes back to reality.

"Sure, sorry, come in!" She moves out of the way, allowing us to come in.

"Wait, you guys know each other?" asks Nitya, still a bit confused and surprised.

"Yes! Actually, Nitya, there's something I wanna tell you." I look at Nitya as a stupid but a naughty idea comes to mind. I loop my hand around Sam's and hold her hand.
Sam's hand is small around mine but fits perfectly. "We are, uhm, DATING!"

"WHAT??" both the girls ask at the same time. But as soon as Nitya looks at Sam, she clears her throat and speaks. "Uhm- yeah, she wanted to tell you but, uhm, I-I said we could tell you after some days."

I try to hold my laugh when Sam gives me a tight-lipped smile and narrows her eyes. "Would you like to drink or eat something, Nitya?" she asks, changing the topic. Nitya, still being confused, replies, "Yes, water, please!"

Sam nods her head and pulls me along with her. As soon as we reach the counter, she turns to me, glares, and crosses her hands on her chest. "What the hell, Adhi?"

I finally let the laugh I was holding out for a long time. Sam's voice comes out sharp, "Mr. Adithya Krishnamurthi! It is not funny!"

I look at her with a bright smile and say, "It is, Sam, you should have seen your face!" and start laughing again, but then stop when I see Sam still glaring at me. "Okay, okay, I was just playing with you! But think about it—this could be useful. It would be easier to meet up and stuff if Nitya thinks we're dating."

Sam raises an eyebrow, considering it. "You might have a point. But this better not get out of hand."

"Promise," I say, crossing my heart.

She sighs and nods. "Fine. Let's do this."

I hug her around her waist, which shocks her and me, to be honest. "Chill, love!" I kiss her cheek, which shocks her more, and that's when, "You bringing water from your kitchen or making it?" comes Nitya's voice, still waiting for the water.

We laugh at the comment, and Sam quickly fills a glass of water, carrying it to Nitya, who is tapping her foot impatiently.

"Here you go," Sam says, handing her the glass.

Nitya takes the glass, eyeing us suspiciously. "When did this dating thing start?"

"A few months ago. Adhi saw me during the CSK vs. LSG IPL match I went to see. We got to texting and fell for each other," I say, holding Sam's hand. She's smiling, but I can tell that she feels miserable lying to her best friend.

Nitya smiles and says, "Well, I have to admit, you guys do make a cute couple. I'm so happy for you, Sam!"

"Thanks, Nitya," I say, grinning. "Now, how about we watch a movie or something?"
Nitya nods, her smile returning. "Sounds like a plan."

We spend some time together, and then Nitya says she needs to talk to Sam privately. They go off to the side, and I wait, feeling a bit anxious. After a few minutes, Sam comes back, and we drop Nitya at her house before heading back to mine.

Once home, I text Sam.

Adhi:
Reached home. What did your friend say to you?

Sam:
She said, "Adithya, I don't know you, but Sam likes you! I can see it, but if you ever hurt her, I don't care if you are famous or whatever; I will cut you in pieces!"

Adhi:
OMG, she said that? Now I gotta be careful!

Sam:
Haha, you have to!

Adhi:
Okay, Sam, I'm gonna go sleep! I'm tired, so good night and sweet dreams, love!

Sam:
Sweet dreams, Adhi!

Laying my phone aside, a gentle smile graces my lips as I drift into a profound sleep.
