Chapter 26

3RD PERSON POV

'Beep...beep...beep...beep'

The machines beep, creating a certain melody in this very quiet room. A slow and  gradual awakening. The smaller's eyes flutter open, adjusting to the dimly lit room. As consciousness returns, a sense of disorientation sets in. The sterile smell of the hospital fills the air, adding to the smaller's confusion. The beeping of machines nearby creates a tense atmosphere, enhancing the feeling of being lost and scared. And within a second, Jimin's thoughts race, trying to piece together what happened before. He definitely remembers the unbearable pain that eventually led to him passing out. Slowly, the room comes into focus, and his fear and uncertainty are palpable, heightening the suspense he feels.

He hears the door opening, and he's tempted to raise his head and see who was making their way in, but he can't. His head is too heavy. He feels slightly dizzy, and he's sure it's all because of this sterile smell of hospital air. It's making him feel very nauseated. He hears the footsteps making their way towards him, and he focuses his eyes on the ceiling.

"Mr Jimin Marino, how are we feeling?" An unfamiliar voice said. Jugding by the white coat, this man was a doctor. Forget the doctor. What shocked the smaller was the surname they had paired with his first name. Marino? He's not a Marino.

"It's Park Jimin." He spoke, his voice feeling very hoarse, and his throat was painful as well, must be because he had cried so much before passing out.

"Oh? Well, I'm just following what your husband told me. But my apologies, Mr Park." The doctor said, giving him a soft smile.

"Husband?" Jimin asked. His head seemed to be getting even more fuzzy and confused by the conversation he was having.

"You seem to still be a little disoriented. How is your body feeling? Any pain? Discomfort?" The doctor asked, looking at the machine on the side of Jimin's bed.

"I have a headache... and... I am feeling very dizzy... my body is... numb." He spoke slowly, taking his time. The doctor nodded while jotting down some of the things Jimin said.

"Well, that's normal after the injection we gave you, and you also haven't had a proper meal in a while, which is the main cause of the dizziness. But you can't eat for now. I still need to run some more tests so you can't eat or drink anything. After I'm done with the tests, I'll give you the go-ahead to eat." The doctor said, giving Jimin a warm smile in hopes to make him feel as comfortable as possible.

"Doctor... am I... is this a hospital?" The smaller asked. This definitely didn't look like a hospital. If it was, then it was most definitely a fancy one. The room was very big, a huge TV mounted on the wall, the bed was very spacious, unlike hospital beds. It seemed more like a room that had mess and hospital equipment.

"No, no, this is your husband's house. They called me over to take care of you." The doctor said. Jimin nodded, not wanting to address the husband issue because he realized that the doctor was definitely hired by his abductors.

"So... what is wrong with me, doctor?" The smaller asked, he honestly couldn't wait to know the real reason behind the pain he was feeling.

"Uh... there is no easy way to say this, Mr Park. I want you to understand that whatever happened was not your fault, and you couldn't have known." The doctor said, giving the smaller a very sympathetic smile. Jimin's squinted his eyes, making a confused face. He was very puzzled as of this moment.

"Mr Park, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately, you lost your baby."

Those words seemed to echoe countless times in the smaller's head. You lost your baby... you lost your baby? He lost his baby? How could he lose a baby he never had? That's what Jimin was thinking about. He was never pregnant, so how could he lose a baby?
