The Isle of Armour was owned by a former Galar League Champion, Mustard. The older gentleman was really nice, and Bridget liked visiting when she could. Allister found it a nice place to train because not many people frequent the Isle. Bridget was helping her mum do checkups for all the people at Mustard's dojo. She also checked on the pokemon if the trainers had any concerns.
Most of the people at the dojo were nice like Mrs. Honey and Hyde, who were Mustard's wife and son. The two exceptions were Avery and Clara, who wanted to be gym leaders. Avery was pompous and was rude to Allister. Clara only chose poison types because there were not many trainers of that type, so it was less competition.
She tried to ignore them, but she did like their Slowpoke. They weren't rude like their trainers.
The trainers were chatting about a new trainer joining them in the dojo. Bridget wanted to help with the health check for the new trainer but didn't know what time the trainer would come. She went with Allister to find a Sandygast for his team.
They weren't having any luck at the beach close to the dojo. "You would think with Avery and Clara around there would be Sandygast around," said Bridget.
Allister laughed but tried to hide it since he saw some trainers nearby. "It's said that Sandygast are made when sand absorbs grudges," said Allister.
They made a pile of sand and tried channeling their grudges into it. It didn't work because they were not the types to hold grudges. While Bridget would attack people for bullying, Allister she didn't hold grudges against the bullies. They usually stopped when she beat them up the first time. Allister was more fearful of people and would rather avoid them than hold a grudge.
They went back to the dojo after their failed attempt to make or find a Sandygast. The new member had arrived, and Bridget cheerfully greeted her. "Gloria, I didn't know you were planning on studying with Master Mustard!"
"Bit of a surprise for me, too," replied Gloria.
Avery and Clara looked angry and were muttering to themselves. "You two better behave yourselves. Don't you know that Gloria is the..." Bridget paused for a moment when she saw Master Mustard shake his head at her. "... the best friend I could have aside from Allister," she finished.
When no one was looking, she winked at Master Mustard. She wasn't sure why the Master didn't want the others to know that Gloria was the new league champion, but she would have fun watching the chaos it caused.
Bridget's mum had Gloria follow her so she could do her checkup. Avery and Clara glared at Gloria, and Bridget couldn't wait to see their faces when Gloria beats them in a battle.
Allister, not wanting to be part of any drama, went to help Hyde with his project. The two boys were quietly setting things up in the corner.
Bridget went to help her mum with the checkup. After the checkup on Gloria, Bridget announced it was time to check her pokemon. They went outside since some of her pokemon were large. She assisted her mum with the checkups and nuzzled some of the pokemon with their permission. She was happy to see the big doggie pokemon with a sword. She was, in fact, a fairfolk like she suspected. She gave extra pats to the good doggie that saved Galar.
Mustard challenged Gloria to a battle after the checkup because he claimed it was the best way to get to know someone. Bridget huffed because she had just finished making sure they were healthy. After the battle, Mustard announced that he would conduct special trials since the dojo was at max capacity. Bridget begged her mum to let her and Allister stay so they could watch the trials. Mustard told them he didn't mind if they stayed, so Bridget's mum agreed, but she had to go due to work obligations.
"Alice and I were going to wait to give these to you, but I think now would be a good time," said Maeve.
She handed them special Rotomphones that were decorated to their taste. "We already put in all the important numbers into the phones for the both of you," she said.
Bridget and Allister thanked her and went over to Hyde to show him their new phones.
"Thank you for watching them. Let me know if you need anything," Maeve said to Mustard and Honey.
Everyone gathered to hear the details of the trials, and Mustard handed out uniforms to his new students. Before Avery and Clara could take their uniforms, a group of Slowpoke grabbed the uniforms and ran off with them.
"Did you tell the Slowpoke to do that," whispered Allister to Bridget.
"No, I wished I had, though," replied Bridget. The two giggled quietly as they watched Avery and Clara freak out.
Mustard explained that the Slowpoke were part of the first trial and that the students had to fight and catch them. All the students ran to chase after the three slowpoke.
"Master Mustard won't Gloria be at a disadvantage since she just got to the island and doesn't know the layout," said Bridget as she watched the students race out the dojo.
"You make a fair point, Bridget. You can assist her with navigation if you like as long as you don't interfere with the trial," responded Mustard.
Bridget nodded and went to see if Allister wanted to go with her. He declined because he was getting overstimulated by all the students, but he sent AJ the Mimikyu to protect her.
She gave Allister a quick hug and waved goodbye to Hyde.
"Gloria, did you see where the slowpoke went," asked Bridget when she went outside.
Gloria pointed to the Soothing Wetlands, and Bridget explained to Gloria what Master Mustard had told her.
Gloria thanked her for her help and offered to let her ride on her bike with her to catch the slowpoke.
Bridget shook her head and said she had her own ride. "Candyfloss, would you like to explore the Soothing Wetlands with me?"
A Galarian Ponyta came out of Bridget's pokeball, and she neighed happily at the opportunity to run around. The Ponyta didn't have a saddle on her, but that wasn't an issue because Bridget was used to riding without one. Since she was wearing a summer dress, she rode side saddle and led Gloria to the Soothing Wetlands.
The Isle adventure was just starting, and the children would enjoy every second of it.
