After what happened on Marjorie's 21st birthday. She became a lot more cold hearted towards everyone, including her staff members. But eventually she gave up caring about what they think of her. Her main achievement was proving her mother wrong, she was not a failure.
Everyone in the nursery hated her. Until, the owner decided to hire someone for Marjorie, she wasn't happy about that one, but she didn't want to risk losing her job as a manager, so she accepted it.
A smiley brunette enters Marjorie's office. She remembers their first interaction. "Hi! I'm Charlotte." The brunette chirped. Marjorie rolls her eyes at her, wondering how one can be so happy. Marjorie gives her a blank stare as she stays seated at her desk. "Cool." She bluntly replies. "I'm sure you know who I am, get on with it now."
The brunettes smile slowly drops as she slowly nods her head, walking out of her office. Marjorie didn't feel bad, why should she?
For a long time, Marjorie never kindly engaged with her staff members. She'd constantly walk around like she was better than them, which in her head, she was, she was the manager after all. After everything Marjorie had done to shut down her staff members, one never gave up, that person was Charlotte. It annoyed Marjorie that Charlotte never seemed so intimidated by her, she always wondered how. In the back of Marjorie's mind, she always admired Charlottes kindness towards all the other staff members, they all loved her. Marjorie would never admit it, but she was jealous. She was jealous that she never got this when she first started.
Marjorie would silently observe the way Charlotte treated others, without realising, Marjorie was starting to come to terms with the fact that maybe not every kind person will turn out to be the bad guy. Marjorie realised the difference between her ex manager and Charlotte. Charlotte seemed to light up every room she walked into, she was always positive about situations and always gave great advice to her co workers and the parents. But her ex manager only cared about Marjorie, and now that Marjorie's grown up a bit more, she realised that maybe she wasn't the problem, it was all him. He was the reason why she never got all this when she first started.
Over many months, Marjorie started to warm up to Charlotte, eventually Marjorie started smiling a lot more, greeting her staff members if she saw them walking through the halls. It took a lot, but Marjorie and Charlotte became the best of friends. Everytime Marjorie had a bad date? Charlotte would be there for her. If a parent was giving Marjorie a hard time? Charlotte would be there for her.
Over the years she started to become more and more familiar with the staff members she had hired. She started to class them as her friends. Her and Sorscha would go out on walks on their lunch breaks. She would sit with Winter and gossip about different TV shows during breaks. And, although Autumn was a tough one to crack, she eventually became best friends with her deputy. Marjorie became a happier person with herself, maybe she hadn't let everything go, but in these moments, she was able to forget.
People viewed Marjorie like a plastic diamond. Some thought they were cheap and worthless, not wasting any time to admire them.
Others thought they were pretty at first, but throw them away as soon as they lose their spark.
However, very few people admire the plastic diamond and see its worth. Every time they see the diamond losing its shine, they do everything in their power to bring the shine back.
Charlotte was the first person to do that for Marjorie.
