It was Christmas day, Marjorie was spending her favourite holiday all year around alone, as usual. However, she didn't feel so alone. Her staff members were nice enough to buy her Christmas presents, she did the same in return. She was happy.
Later that day, the manager at the sister nursery, Siobhan, called Marjorie to say she was moving up to bigger and better things, and that she had already hired someone new. "He goes by the nickname, the piranha." The blonde said over the phone. Marjorie didn't like Siobhan, and she didn't trust what game she was trying to play with her. Marjorie was mad, Siobhan had won yet again. In that moment, she genuinely thought Siobhan had hired Marjorie's worst nightmare. But little did Marjorie know, this was about to be the best Christmas present she had ever received.
Before Marjorie could get lost in her own thoughts, she heard a knock on the door. As she answered it, Charlotte was standing there. "You didn't think we'd let you spend Christmas alone, did you?" Marjorie took a step back and saw all of her work colleagues standing there. She smiled, and let them all in. This was the first time Marjorie had ever celebrated Christmas with the people who she truly loves.
As the new year came along, the new manager had arrived. His name was Reece, he was tall, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was also Autumns older brother. Reece knew how to push Marjorie's buttons, however he was much more flirty about it. The way he treated Marjorie was different to every other guy she's had in her life. A good different.
She quickly developed feelings for Reece, but tried to push them aside as Autumn constantly warned her about him being a bad person. Even though Marjorie would never admit out loud how she feels about Reece, she tried to deny it to herself, as she didn't want to lose Autumn as a friend, and she didn't want to get herself hurt again. However, it never worked.
Marjorie and Reece both knew they liked each other, Reece even asked her on a date. But the turn of events when he sent Autumn those flowers forced Marjorie to become more cold hearted towards him. She knew she should have listened from the start, she was angry at herself for ever thinking anyone would have a genuine romantic connection with her. Marjorie tried to go on a date with another man, to try and forget about Reece, and hope that she can push her feelings aside, but he kept showing up. She didn't know why.
A few weeks later, Marjorie and Autumn learned the truth, she was devastated and filled with guilt. All the cruel things she said to him, when he was actually just trying to protect her. When Autumn gave her approval to go and settle things with Reece, she found out he was back with his ex girlfriend, Mia. Marjorie was confused, she was 50/50 on whether this man was being blackmailed, or whether she had been played the whole time. Even though he said horrible things to her in that meeting, she didn't believe it.
With nothing to lose, she chased him down and demanded the truth. She didn't believe that someone who would do so much to protect his sister, would turn out to be so cruel. Reece told Marjorie everything about Mia, and he admitted to wanting to be with Marjorie. She had never felt happier.
As weeks go by, and Marjorie is happy to be walking around calling Reece her boyfriend. She learned a lot more about Reece and his past with Autumn and Mia. She found out Mia wasn't the bad guy after all. However, the red head still hurt the two people she loves the most, and she couldn't let that go.
Eventually, Marjorie told Reece she loves him. And he showed that same love back. As much as she wanted to hear Reece say those three little words, she thought it must have been normal to have the 'you too' response. She has never been in a situation like this before.
When Reece did say those three little words back. Everything her mother, her father, her ex manger and people at school said to her, faded from her memory. They were all wrong. She was loved, in every way she could imagine. And she was happy with the person who she was.
And now, she's moved in with her boyfriend, and she has her best friends supporting her every move. She's living the life she has always dreamed of.
