Reece, Autumn and Winter scattered across the small crowds of people, hoping that maybe Marjorie had ended up stopping and talking to someone. They all met back in the middle when they realised there was no sign of her. "Any luck?" Reece asked the pair.
"No, but don't panic, she could be in the car?" Winter spoke up. Reece was clearly worried about Marjorie. The three of them quickly headed back to the car, thankfully they saw Marjorie sitting in the passenger side with her head leaning against the window.
Reece jumped into the driver side and placed his hand on her shoulder. "Are you okay?" He asked, as Winter and Autumn sat down on the backseats.
"Yeah, i'm fine." She responded in a dry tone. "I just want to go home."
Marjorie didn't look up, she stayed staring out the window. Reece took the hint that she didn't want to discuss it at this moment and time, so he started the car and headed towards Winter and Autumns house.
The drive was silent, everyone was tired and drunk. Reece would often glance over at Marjorie, her whole body stuck in the same position the entire drive. He'd occasionally take her hand in his at every opportunity he could, making her aware that he was always there. They eventually arrived at Winter and Autumns house, they all quickly said their goodbyes and Reece watched them walk into their house.
"Marjorie." Reece said, placing his hand on her thigh. "Do you want to talk now?"
Marjorie shook her head, still not looking up at him. Her emotions were a mix of sadness and anger, she was happy she got her emotions across. But was it worth it? Would she get the outcome she had expected? These questions that she couldn't answer still replaying in her head, making her doubt her drunken decision.
The drive was still silent. Eventually Marjorie lifted up her head and leaned straight against the seat, she pulled down her window, hoping that the fresh air could clear her mind. "Do you think what I did was stupid?" She finally spoke, looking straight ahead at the road.
Reece looked over at her, he took one of his hands off the steering wheel and placed it in hers. "Marjorie, the important question is how do you feel? You did this for yourself, don't worry about what other people think. How do you feel?"
Reece's question caused Marjorie to think for a second. She hadn't really thought of herself in this situation, she only thought about how others felt. "I.. I don't know."
Reece had finally pulled into the driveway of their home. He stopped the car and turned to Marjorie. He gently placed his hand on her cheek, hoping she would turn to face him, which she did. "You've had a big night, and you're clearly drunk. My best advice would be to get some rest. And we can talk about this tomorrow."
Marjorie looked around for a second, then looked back at Reece. She nodded and faintly smiled, which caused him to smile back. He quickly got out of the car and walked over to her side, opening the door for her and holding out his hand. She took his hand and relaxed into the side of his body as they walked inside. Marjorie went straight upstairs to the bedroom while Reece quickly locked up downstairs.
He met her back in the bedroom holding a glass of water for her, he also brought up some pain killers which she would definitely need in the morning. She had changed out of her clothes and was sat at her vanity removing all her makeup. She looked back at Reece and saw what he was holding, she laughed. "Thank you."
They both got into bed and Marjorie laid down on Reece's chest. She felt a huge pool of anxiety build up in her stomach again, her thoughts winning her over. What if she said the wrong thing? What if she had just completely embarrassed herself? What if no one believes her?
Reece noticed Marjorie's body slightly tense up, so he gently started drawing patterns on Marjorie's back, helping her relax a little bit. The negative thoughts slowly drifting away from her head, and she eventually fell asleep.
She had hoped that the outcome her family receives from this, is exactly what she had built up in her mind for all these years.
