After 5 minutes Marjorie finally joined Reece outside. She placed the box on the floor. "I think i'm gonna burn everything one by one." She said, looking at the fire.

"Whatever you want, my love." He walked towards Marjorie and rubbed his hand across her back. "I'm proud of you, and i'll always be by your side, no matter what."

Marjorie smiled, she turned around to face Reece, looking up at him for a second. "Before I burn everything, I think you should read this." She handed Reece the envelope.

He read the front of the envelope. "Dear my future boyfriend?" He questioned. He then started to open the envelope, but Marjorie stopped him. "No. Not here." She said. "I don't want to see what I wrote."

Reece held the envelope close to his heart. He understood where she was coming from. He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead then headed inside. Marjorie then kneeled down on the floor, picking up all the pictures first. She took one last glance at the picture placed at the top, it was the picture of her dad, with his family. She ripped the picture, separating herself from where her dad's family was standing, creating two separate pictures. She then threw all the pictures in the fire.

As Marjorie was outside, Reece stepped inside the kitchen. He then opened the envelope and unfolded the paper that was inside, he was greeted by a page half filled with writing. He started reading it.

Dear my future boyfriend,

I hope we're happy together. All i've ever wanted is to love someone, and for someone to love me back. And I hope you're nice to me. I know it sounds stupid but, I want someone to love me for me, and not try and change me as a person like the people at school do to me. I'm sorry if i'm annoying, I get told that a lot. I don't even know why i'm writing this, but I hope I get to give this to someone one day.. whether that is if i remember, or if I even get a boyfriend in the future. My mom and people at school tell me I'll never be loved. Promise me you'll help me prove them wrong, promise me you'll love me forever.

Lots of love from your girlfriend,
Marjorie (12) xxx

Reece finished reading the letter and stared at it, tears slowly filling his eyes. He felt awful learning more about her childhood. Marjorie lit up any room she walked into, she was a comfort to many people. Reece looked up and saw Marjorie throwing the last of her diaries in the fire, he quickly wiped his eyes and smiled at her. "I promise i'll love you forever." He whispered. He then looked back down at the letter, folding it back and in half and walked back out to Marjorie.

Marjorie heard him walk back outside, she turned around and smiled. "Did you read it?" She asked.

He didn't respond, he walked towards her and kissed her. Holding her close, like it was the last time they would ever be together. He then slowly pulled away from her, looking straight into her eyes. "I love you, Marjorie." He said.

She smiled. "I love you too." She then turned around to face the fire once again, she bent down and picked up the empty box, and threw it in with no hesitation. "That's what everything, except for that letter."

They stood there in silence, watching the last of the box burn. Reece then handed marjorie the letter, placing it in between her fingers. She took one last breath. "The last memory." She said, slightly chuckling. She then held her hand above the fire and dropped the letter in. She relaxed into Reece's chest, feeling less heavy.

"I'm so proud of you, Marjorie." He whispered, wrapping his arms tighter around her waist.

Marjorie slowly nodded, watching the flames slowly fade away. She took a deep breath. "Me too, i'm ready to let go."

As Marjorie said that, the flame of the fire went out, and everything around her went dark. She looked around the garden, not knowing what to do next. Reece slowly spun her around to look at him. And there it was, Reece standing out to Marjorie with the darkness all around her. He was her window of light in the dark. She smiled, and hugged him, resting her head on his chest. "Can we go back inside now?" She whispered. Reece didn't respond, he slowly reached down to grab Marjorie's hand and guided her back inside.

She felt the spark she had long buried inside her start to come back.

She was healing.
