"Oh my god, Grey! I passed the application!" tili ni Serene at bahagyang tumatalon-talon sa harap ko. We were sitting at the school field, enjoying our lunch under the warm sun.

"I told you, you could make it," I replied with a smile, feeling genuinely happy for her. With her amazing works that I saw last time? It's already obvious.

Serene's eyes sparkled with happiness as she plopped down next to me. "I was so nervous about it, but now that I've gotten in, it feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders."

"That's good to hear," ani ko habang kumakagat sa aking baon na sandwich. "Your works are great. They'd be crazy not to accept you." komento ko.

She laughed, a sound that was both relieved and elated. "Thanks, Grey. Buti na lang nandyan ka. How about you? How's your application for academic club?"

"I passed also. Kaunti lang kaming naroon. I guess, academic club is only for boring people," I joked, trying to lighten the mood. Hinampas naman niya ako sa braso, rolling her eyes at my comment.

"What do you mean boring? You mean for geniuses!" she exclaimed. "Like, we have regular classes for lessons, and club activities should be our leisure time. Yet, you chose that academic club out of many others. Just to learn more about your course? You got to be kidding me."

I laughed at her reaction. "Well," I shrugged, "I just thought it would be a good way to deepen my understanding about business."

Ngumisi siya, "Or maybe you're just a nerd at heart."

"Hey, nothing wrong with that!" I laughed, rubbing my arm where she playfully hit me. "Besides, it's not like I'm going to spend all my time there. It's just an opportunity to expand my knowledge to help my Dad's company to grow."

"Sabagay," aniya at pinagpatuloy kumain.

I shifted my gaze to the wide green grass in front of me. The school field was expansive, a large rectangle of lush green bordered by tall, leafy trees that offered some respite from the sun. There were some students still practicing despite the heat in the middle of the field, their shouts and laughter mingling with the distant hum of traffic. The air was thick with the smell of freshly cut grass, and the sky above was a clear, brilliant blue, with only a few wisps of clouds drifting lazily by.

I can still feel his breath against my skin. His touch, though gentle, felt like a betrayal of my trust, leaving me torn between pushing him away and seeking comfort in his closeness that night.

"Stop messing with my head..."

What does he even mean by that? Does he think he can play with my emotions again by giving me mixed signals? After all the pain he caused, does he really believe I would fall for it? I've learned my lesson.

I remembered that night vividly. Despite my weak legs from the overwhelming sensation of his kiss and touch, I found the strength to push him away. It was a moment of clarity, a realization that I needed to protect myself from further heartache. I stood my ground, even though every part of me was trembling.
