This was a mythic ceremony, solemn and severe.
It descended from the heavens like a messenger of the gods, or perhaps a betrayer of faith. Encircled by steel feathers, it appeared as countless falling swords ready to judge all the guilty.
Seriu could only watch as an observer, silently witnessing the descent of the dark angel upon the shattered corpse of Lloyd.
It seemed like the Grim Reaper from the legends, coming to take this lost soul, or perhaps a strange savior whose gift originated from the devil.
Lloyd wasn't dead yet. At the last moment, his secret blood broke through its limits, triggering his transformation into a demon. To truly kill a demon, one must destroy both the heart and brain.
His monstrous growth kept him barely alive, while the silver shackles melted rapidly, with the scorching holy silver mixing into his blood and hastening his demise.
Destruction and rebirth coexisted.
Though still alive, Lloyd was on the brink of death, facing two paths. He could maintain his demonic form until he fell into darkness, gaining eternal life as a demon, or he could calm the raging secret blood and die consciously as a human.
It wasn't a hard choice; knowing Lloyd, he would gladly die as a human. But this time, the power to decide wasn't in his hands.
The dark angel gently lifted the dying corpse, dragging him out from the twisted metal. Only then did Seriu see the full extent of Lloyd's damage.
She thought Lloyd's lower half was buried in the soil, but in truth, he no longer had a lower half. It was obliterated in a violent explosion, leaving a gaping wound from his abdomen, hollow and devoid of organs or bones, resembling a burnt-out shell.
"No, no, no..."
Seriu couldn't bear to look.
The once powerful demon hunter was like a broken doll, with fabric torn and stuffing scattered.
Strong blood sustained his shattered life like a flame flickering in the wind, perhaps to be extinguished any moment.
Then, a more forbidden sight emerged before everyone's eyes.
The dark angel gazed at the corpse, slowly opening its arms as if to embrace him.
The divine armor began to fracture, revealing a gap in the chest where demonic flesh emerged. Beneath it was nothing but emptiness, as if no one was piloting the divine armor. It swallowed the corpse bit by bit, then closed up.
Like a blacksmith's forge, only this time it was hammering a sinful life. Furious steam spewed out, engines roared, and rampant flesh filled every crevice.
The original safety protocols were breached one by one. The flesh surpassed the internal protective armor, growing into the pilot's space, enveloping Lloyd's broken body and starting to assimilate with the flesh.
This was the danger of the first-generation divine armor. With a significant portion made from demonic flesh, it would merge with and assimilate its wearer when corrupted. Galahad had nearly died this way, his back fused to the armor like a monstrous conjoined twin.
Now, the same horror befell Lloyd, but it was extending his life.
They merged, using demonic organs to compensate for Lloyd's deficiencies.
Yet this demonic flesh lacked consciousness. Its actions followed biological instincts, similar to the Holy Grail's flesh, but now it seemed controlled by another will, moving against the laws of nature.
