River's eyes fluttered open. Quiet talk in a language she didn't understand sounded. As she observed her surroundings she found herself in a cage. The leaves crushed under her hands as she began panicking and rusted around in the small space. Just then, she tried to stand up but fell to the ground fast after when a shooting pain hit her in her right thigh. Yet when she let her eyes wander down towards it, there was no arrow stuck in it anymore. Instead a small bandage had been placed over it, to stop the bleeding.
Out of the corner of her eye she noticed someone moving around beside her. Peering her head over to look, her stomach sank.
"Murphy?"
A bloodied up Murphy met her eye, sitting in the cage next to her.
"River?" Murphy croaked moving forward to get closer to her. "What are you doing here?"
"What are you doing here?" River repeated.
Murphy sighed. "They captured me shortly after I got banished from camp" He explained, his voice dry. "How are you here?"
"Finn set up a meeting with the grounders to try and make peace with them"
"I can see that went really well" Murphy said, sarcastically.
In the same moment, three grounders appeared on the other side of the cages. River recognised one of them as Anya. She looked between River and Murphy before pointing to Murphy.
"Start with him" Anya demanded.
"W-What?" River stuttered. "Wha-What are you gonna do to him?"
As much as River didn't like Murphy very much ever since the situation with Charlotte — she wasn't gonna let him get hurt. After all he was her people.
One of the grounders opened his cage and lifted him up by his collar, violently.
"Hey! Let him go!"
River's protests were ignored as the grounder held Murphy close to his face as he spoke.
"We're gonna try this again... how many of you are coming down?" The grounder asked in a low and threatening tone.
